JonShar Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 El Zhar had a tough time getting into the game, he's a small lad. Guthrie however - I thought he had some great touches, showed some good hustle, and looks very promising.
Guest stevo96 Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 el zhar did a lot running, getting into good positions, but no one really picked him out with a pass, which sums our performance up. you can tell he's a good little player though. his touch is excellent and he has plenty of pace. i was impressed with guthrie too. he looks like he'll make the step up to this level with no problems.
smithdown Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 El Zhar looked better when he came off the wing, looked very nervous to begin with and not sure of himself at all but when he linked up with play through the middle he had much more promise about him. Guthrie hasn't made a mistake since his first touch against Reading. Looked assured right from the off last night and showed more on wide right than Pennant had. In fact, it made no sense to bring them on in the order we did. Guthrie looks well ahead of El Zhar at the mo.
Guest stevo96 Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 to be fair to el zhar it was his first outing for the first team and he was thrown into a game where we were struggling, so it was always going to be difficult. and guthrie has had a bit more first team experience.
johngibo YPC Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 El Zhar looked like a kid playing for dads sunday league team. They were a big side and he got knocked off the ball every time. I agree he looked better in the middle than on the wing. Took up a great position when Agger opted to shoot. I think we would ahve been 3 on 2 with their centre halves. I thought Guthrie did wellThat older scouse lad who came on wasn't the best though unfortunatly
Andy @ Allerton Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 I think El Zhar might be one for the future - seen him play for the reserves and if he can build up a bit then he may be one to watch out for. Has impressed me when I've seen him
