A man who beat a neighbour unconscious in a row over 50p has been jailed for two years.

Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday how David North was attacked by Rodney Maloney after he accused him of stealing the coin from the top of a computer.

Prosecutor Simon Hickey told the court Maloney attacked Mr North in May, after bumping into him in the block of flats they lived in on Keighley Road, Skipton.

Despite Mr North saying he did not want to fight, Maloney hit him repeatedly.

The complainant fell to the floor and banged his head. Mr Hickey said Maloney, 32, carried on attacking Mr North, saying ?I?m going to kill you. I have killed before and if I don?t I'll get my brothers to come from Keighley and do it.?

The court was told Mr North believed that he was going to carry out his threat.

Maloney, who admitted charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and making threats to kill, was arrested the same day. He told officers he had drunk two bottles of Lambrini.

He also told officers he had accused Mr North of stealing the 50p.
