Guest Picard Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 It's quite clear that he doesn't have the right ideas to be able to successfully take this team forward. He's done quite well so far, in the same way that Houllier did in winning us 5 trophies but Benitez has reached a plateau and shows no signs of being able to take this team any higher. Buying susbstandard players like Pennant and Bellamy or constantly chopping and changing the team a la Ranieri simply isn't the answer. He's showing all the signs of Houllieristis. People like Kuyt and Gonzalez aren't the answer either and having no cover for Finnan when he's off form is sheer madness. The Board should be shot for not getting Martin O'Neil.
TFU Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Whatever.... I'm surprised a WUM like you has been a member of this forum for so long

Jim D Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Yeah right, lets sack a manager who has won Two La Ligas, UEFA Cup, European Cup and a FA Cup. Sack him, he obviously doesn't have a clue about managing and winning trophies for a football club.
Guest Picard Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 (edited) I'm surprised a WUM like you has been a member of this forum for so long Alot longer than you I see.... Its not a wind up at all. What works in La Liga doesn't necessarily work in English football. You can drop Gonzalez into the Sociedad 1st team and have him win mutiple MOMs. That doesn't work here. Kuyt scoring 25 league goals a season? Not a chance. Benitez brings too much of the Spanish mentality to the English league. We'd be playing 1 up front if he had his way. If it wasn't for the European Cup - which was more down to the brillilance of Gerrard and some great cameo performances during the group stages by the likes of Mellor and Pongo - Benitez would be under a huge amount of pressure. When the Greek national team won the European Championships, were people hailing their manager as a great? As for today's performance, it was the complete and utter f***ing pits. You can talk about "controlling" the game all you want, but if you can't score and let goals in left right and centre, you're f***ed. Edited October 14, 2006 by Picard
