My lad is 12 years old, and is in year eight at school. Peaceful as anything, he is.

Last year he had arun in with this kid who is in the higher year - a bit of handbags, really.

Yesterday this happened again - apparently the fellah tripped him up and then jumped on his back and started a ruck. My son (who is a bit bigger than him anyway!) pushed him away and after a bit of rough and tumble apparently that was the end of it.

But ...Yesterday evening though, about 5pm the older kid called around our house while my wife was out for a few minutes. He had a MUCH bigger lad with him, known locally as a "nasty bit of work". This lad doesn't go to the same school as far as I know, but is at least 15, maybe older. My lad, who was home, answered the door but it managed to close it again before much happened.

Now, I know that all lads get involved in a bit of rough and tumble - it's a part of growing up, and he has to "fight his own battles" to some extent. But my wife is worried. So, I have a couple of basic questions ....

From a school perspective ... Do schools have a common bullying charter? If so, what can we do about it.

From a legal perspective - If these lads started hanging around our house or started to cause trouble in any way, threatenning Olly and the like, where do we stand from a Police perspective?

If it escalates who should we speak to? The school, the police, Parents? the lads themselves? I'd be happy to batter them so they're eating through straws for the rest of their natural, but obviously this sin't the answer.

All advice welcome as always...

Thanks,

Steve
