Is the UN peace force a farce?

[Guest sniffer]

The UN peace force preparing to go into Lower Lebanon has insisted it mustn't actually have to do anything about Hezbollah or its huge armoury of rockets and guns. Presumably it is insisting the same with regard to the Israelis. So what is the point of them going in? They're still waiting for the French to make up their minds too, aren't they?
