Decent young player. If I were to make a comparison I'd say Giuly is the closest in terms of style. Hammill has 10 times the capacity though.

Out of the current young crop, who is the most likened to Mcmanaman ie abilty run from his own half and go past four players whilst doing so?

Hammill is the most naturally gifted, but he appears to have the biggest ego/attitude.

Hammill, definately. He's got more trickery than Macca, but it remains to be seen if he has the footballing brain as well.

I've got to be honest and say I have not seen this guy, but judging by the plaudits he's recieving he is outstanding. In your opinion is he better then Mcmanaman as when Mcmanaman was was his age.

I first saw Macca at 19 and he was better than Anderson is now, but then Anderson is only 17, isn't he ?

I watched Anderson closely over the two legs of the youth cup final. He looked Aaron Lennon level outstanding in the first leg but utterly anonymous in the second.

Very hard to judge him yet. Experience tells me he won't make it.

What are you basing that on?

The rest of the post seemed fairly non committal.

Gerrard was nothing special at 17/18, he was good, but you didn't think 'wow he'll be a World beater'. I think a few youfies will get a chance next season in carling cup etc...

I'm basing it on experience of seeing/hearing about the next 'big thing' to be emerging from our youth set-ups. The ones who are going to make it tend to be straining at the leash to be picked for the first team by the time they're 18, and at any rate very very few do actually come through.

I'm not saying Anderson won't make it, but I think the odds of him breaking through to becoming a long term first team player are very slim.

I saw Gerarard in the reserves at that age and did think 'wow.

More trickery than Macca ? Macca was an enourmously technically gifted player, with plenty of 'trickery' in his locker.

I have seen quite a bit of Anderson and Hamill. Anderson is more like Aaron Lennon. Very very fast, like Owen when he was young, possibly quicker. With Anderson you also get awareness and a great final ball. I think he will make it. Which is why, if you believe whats in the papers, Rafa is not breaking the bank to buy a right winger/midfielder.

He's got a good attitude. He'd already been knocked back by Leicester and the Baggies but was still determined to give it a go.

Hamill on the other hand is a box of tricks. Very skillful aka Ronaldo (the femine one). If he doesn't make it, it will be his own fault. He probably needs to listen to what he's being told.

I remember Fowler at about 14 and Owen when he was 15 and they stuck out like a sore thumb. Anderson is the same.

Anderson and Macca are totally different players though. Macca had supreme ball control and used that to get past players. He wasn't slow but not in Anderson's class. Anderson looks like he could handle himself more. Macca was a pushover in his late teens early 20's. Always being forced off the ball.

Don't forget Anderson has already made the bench. Not bad for a 17year old. Expect a few appearances next season.

Think that's the lad we pinched from Man City, can't remember his name.

Hamill has a skin head. Very tough looking. Which is ironic because he's not a tough player and that maybe a weakness. If he toughens up it will deffo give him a better chance. Especially if he isn't kept on and goes down the divisions. Mind you, he's only 16.

Hamill is the one that scores just past the half way line about 3mins into the video.

When Houllier promoted Gerrard he said Gerrard was going to be the best in europe inside five years. How right he was... :hooked:

I mean the video wasnt very clear but what I could make out this guy was making some desicive passes aswell as going past players with ease. He looked like our version of fabrigas, or am I barking up the wrong tree/

The one that steals the ball and then shoots?

Yep. He shoots from the centre circle just inside there half.

Yeah, that sounds like the lad we got from Citeh. He does look promising. Played on the left I think but he does have a look Fabregas about him.

that's the one from City.

Kev Docherty is the one to watch though. Already got a deal with coke as well

Which underage team does he play for?

Godwin Antwi looks as if he has the potential as well. He's only a kid and has lots to learn. Probably go on loan for few years I'd imagine.

Danny Guthrie who plays in the middle is another who looks good. He's a bit older, 19. Was at the Mancs.

I haven't been convinced about Roque. Barragan looks excellent though.

Maldini: You seem to know your stuff. How many players do you think will make it from the youth team squad to first team?

That reputation is thoroughly undeserved :) You'd be better off asking Adam S, he's seen WAY more of them than me.

Ask Dave Usher and he'll probably tell you that Roque was player of the season (for him at least) on that level.

You just fancy Barragan.

Roque has looked very convincing in every position he's played (everywhere in midfield and defence). I really like the way Guthrie plays but if he's going to make it he needs to take some big steps next season I think. Hammill and Anderson definitely have the potential to progress as do one or two more, but it's like "How long is a piece of string?". Some will get a chance in The Carling Cup and hopefully grab it and refuse to let go.

I think that's nicked from TLW if my memory serves me correctly.

You are right. I didnt think that the Mods would appreciate the referencing of other LFC sites
