I don't think anyone is disputing that, but we're at a stage now in our development where it's crucial we keep our best players. If they want to go, fine, but they should only be allowed to leave if it benefits us, and can you honestly say that selling Xabi does? Silva would be a great signing but I doubt even he would make up for the loss of our long term midfield lynchpin.

Xabi arrived during a transition process. Completely different scenario to now where we are expected to win the league, which Xabi played a significant role in. To even contemplate selling him we need a ready made replacment, not a young inexperienced prospect. To go from Alonso, Masch and Lucas to Martinez, Masch and Lucas is a big drop in quality and experience.

Robben is staying at Madrid anyway. I think he's the only one I'd have taken in any proposed swap deal.

Hunter is clueless. He just puts his own spin on the rumours in the Spanish press. His big 'exclusive' was Madrid had over 300 million in credit to spend, yet now they need to sell to buy.

Wark was a quality experienced player, Martinez is still learning his trade. I'm sure Xabi can be replaced, but if we want to carry on where we left off they need to be up to standard now, not in two years time.

Wark was a proven performer in our league and experienced international, and even he had issues replacing a player of that quality. Martinez is a good prospect, that's it.

You can't replace Xabi with someone like Martinez and expect to challenge for the league. We need proven top quality or it's pointless selling him.

I've no idea, but what I do know is whatever was said or planned in the past is now pretty much redundant and we're going to be staying at Anfield for a very long time and the whole thing needs to be reviewed, including costs and infastructure. Unless you have a better idea than just waiting for this existing plan to never come to frution.,

That programme is dependant on the new stadium, which won't happen. How much longer are we going to just keep regurgitating the official stance and do nothing while we slip futher behind?

That's the council's perogative. I imagine a redeveloped Anfield would benfit the surrounding area anyway. Doing nothing is no longer an option.

It's certainly not terrible. I've seen him pass the ball pretty well for a combative midfielder. To be fair, Mascherano is pretty limited technically and prone to conceding sloppy possession. Cattermole isn't ready to play into a title chasing side yet but he'd be a excellent understudy for Masch, while we mould him into the role.

It's easy enough and there'll be plenty doing the same. Turn right onto Walton Breck Rd, bear left at the bottom onto Everton Valley, then Kirkdale Rd, then you can either turn left and go down Gt Homer St or go straight on down Scotland Rd, both will take you through to Lime St. Half hour tops.
