Its the same with most sports. Look at the reaction to the Ashes or England winning the Rugby world cup. I must admit I enjoyed both of them even though I am not that keen on the sports, but I love football with a passion, and by that I mean the game itself. I love watching any game. My only negative passion for the sport is my total hatred of Liverpool the football team, but I always support Liverpool players that play for England. Strange I suppose, but thats me.

That does not mean that you and I are like that. It does not mean that we cant just watch and support England

What about England fans who have never owned an England shirt and preffer to wear their own clubs colours, but just want to see their England team win a cup? We have some fans with an iq of 3 as well. People like me who also follow my country would be gutted if Gerrard got injured now. I honestly think there are a lot of United fans who feel like I do and we cannot understand the ones that dont follow their country. I suspect these same people will use the England games as an excuse to go out and get pissed on match nights.

Robbie was never as good for England as he was for Liverpool. Ok he never got a run, but there had to be a reason for that. Yes he scored a few goals, but who were they against? Lets face it, there was never a public outcry that he was not in the team like there was for Owen and Becks in 98, or public despair re Rooney this time. Fowler imo was one of the greatest strikers the PL has known, but like Andrew Cole he could not carry that over to England. Just my opinion

If England win group B, Germany are second in Group A, Argies win theirs with Holland second, and Brazil win theirs, the England will play Germany followed by Holland, then Brazil in the semi and Argentina in the final. Shame we cant play Italy as well.
