If it was my Pub I would, but its all down to appreciating the role each player is given and a little understanding of the game itself. I can understand for example some Chelsea supporters dont rate Mikel when they got Essien wich also can do that job and more. Had we had a player that could do Lucas job and that little extra we wouldnt be as ecstatic about what Lucas brings to the table.

The few Chelsea fans I know think he did a good job, but turned pants lately. But if the everyone except them think hes crap then ok. Theres still a few people I watch the games with that think Lucas is s****.

So do I, but would a Chelsea fan agree with us?

Goals, pass completion, tackles etc. They both do a similar job protecting the back four and tend to do the easy short passing game to a "playmaker". Agree that throwing up statistics proves feckall in certain cases, each game, every team has their own way of doing things, but when it comes to that role (holding midfielder) those that do that job tend to be very similar. Its not like comparing Messi to Ronaldo IMO.

Yeah, but I wouldnt say P Neville was as good as Butt either, probably in the same mould as Spearing. Of course luck plays its part, some shortcomings can be papered over if you play with exceptional players that can compliment you. I dont really agree with Mikel either, yes hes become a squad player at Chelsea lately, but statistically he comes very close to Lucas and hes not average... or is he?

Think that is a little over the top, Butt was an important player for United for a few years, even played for England (though that dosnt say too much)... But if Spearing is willing to stay for much of his career he'll be an important member of our squad and maybe become a Fletcher.

Poor thing this havnt gotten more publicity, a lot of retweets on twitter, but the offal giving it some time today is a little late. Havnt seen any retweets from our players...
