Rafa: Need more money! I don't know if I will get it
anfield replied to anfield's topic in Liverpool FC
It doesnt take inside knowledge to know that investment promises are made over and over again and nothing has happened. Except for Parry's usual "the deal has to be just right" this is a silly point but I really have to wonder about the judgement of a man who wears the ties that he does......I mean something is just plain wrong there... -
Rafa: Need more money! I don't know if I will get it

from the repeated calculations that people have done on here, it seems that his net spending since he got here is in the region of 30 million pounds...ie roughly about 15 milion per summer over 2 summers..... A lot, but not by premiership standards and certainly not enough for a club with our aspirations. -

Can you blame them? One of the best managers in europe at one of the most successful clubs in the world that has just won the european cup has to use the media to pressure the club to give him the finances he needs? Rafa is doing his job, and clearly thinks Parry and the club can do a better job supporting his needs. This investment crap has been going on for ages now with constant false promises. And as much as nostalgia would make us want to stay at anfield, if we are still there 10 years from now, the other clubs with their larger stadiums will leave us in the dust. -

Perhaps if he had more money he wouldn't be scrounging aorund for second choice buys. And I agree with leo people keep harping about how much money Rafa has spent while conveninetly ignoring how much he has recouped in sales. -

Cisse wasn't really his choice Alonso can only reallly be considered his most expensive buy -
I don't know if these quotes are rehashed or from today but he is clearly using the media to pressure Parry to get his lazy a** out of barbados and find some dosh From soccernet http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=361154&cc=5739 Benitez admits there is still work to do Rafael Benitez has given the strongest indication so far that he is not about to jump ship at Liverpool and take over at Real Madrid. The Spanish boss admits he is bitterly disappointed with the loss of Liverpool's Champions League crown but points out he has strong plans for the club. Benitez has added several youngsters to his squad as he builds for the future at Anfield. CliveBrunskill/GettyImages Benitez: coveted by both Inter Milan and Real Madrid. He believes bringing in youth will create a stronger emotional attachment between players and club in the future than would exist if he merely signed seasoned professionals. Benitez said: 'Rick Parry (chief executive) and the board are working on solutions for the future, and I have confidence in them. 'I do not know if we have more or less money - but we are working on new ideas, working with the players we have and thinking about who we have out on loan. 'Then we will consider the transfer market and making use of what we already have here. 'This does not affect my own plans. We have signed Antonio Barragan, Gabriel Paletta and Daniel Agger, while Mark Gonzalez will be here in the summer - all very young players for the future. 'If as a manager you are thinking about your future then you cannot sign players who are 20 and 21 years old. It would be better for me to sign players who are 28 with experience. 'Then you can work with them for one year, two years and then finish. We are thinking about young players for the future, not for just one season.' He added: 'The club are working to improve, they have been working for a couple of years trying to find some more money, I know they are looking and trying to find solutions. 'If they cannot I will try to do my best, for sure. It is difficult to say if you lose the Champions League whether things will be more difficult. 'As a manager you must work with the players that you have. We will try to improve the squad and the players with the money we have at this moment. If we had more money, yes it would be better.' The build-up to Liverpool's shattering defeat by Benfica was dogged by speculation about Benitez's future and his clear agenda for the board to find funds to spend in the transfer market. But the day after the nightmare loss of the European Cup at Anfield, Benitez was again insisting he is planning long term, not for a quick exit. He said: 'I am only concerned with winning the next game and working as hard as possible for my club. 'I do not have a problem now, I want to improve my team this season and in the future. 'If you continue winning in the Champions League you will earn more money. We do not have that any more so we need to work with the players here and try to find the best solution in terms of money. 'Sometimes it is not just receiving a big amount of money that solves things, it is how you use your imagination with how you spend what you have. 'In football everything can change after one game. Now we need to think about the future but you cannot say we are worse than one day before playing Benfica. 'We are the same team and we need to think about the Premier League and FA Cup now. 'If you want to improve you can do it by working harder or by signing new players. We are working on buying good players for us, every big club is doing that, everyone needs to improve and change things if needed. 'But this is normal, it is nothing new, just the same for every club when you finish a season. It is the same every year. 'The players are not thinking about what happens in the future, they are only thinking about winning, we are professionals.' Benitez has made it clear, however, that he will mark the end of Liverpool's great European adventure by accelerating the search for new players. The Anfield hierarchy will have to come up with the cash for Benitez who said: 'We need to work harder looking for new players because we know what the situation is and what must be done. 'We are working now. The scouting department is working on improving the team. 'When you lose a game as important as this one, I prefer not to talk about new players or current players. Or what mistakes we made. I just want to change such things. 'In terms of our mentality, we need to be stronger. We must think about the future and work hard now.' Benitez's words will not be lost on Parry, still searching for new investment to fund the proposed new stadium in Stanley Park, and chairman David Moores.

Alonso says RAFA is committed to the club and will not leave.

So Xabis leaving with Rafa then. Large portions of the adoring kop with xabi posters to follow him and rafa to Real? -
Lets see we are in third place in the premier league there are a lot of teams a lot lower than us

Mori, Cisse and Garcia can all go. Fowler I still believe was a desperate buy in light of our failure to get any other strikers during the transfer break.
-
eh the liverbird is an eagle isnt it?
-
People keep saying it but its not true. Our strikers constantly fail to place the ball and shoot directly at the goalkeeper or the shots are just too weak. Myhre today pretty didnt have to move, all the shots came straight at him.
-
kewell defending well....
-
fowler goal but offside...shady decision
-
lots of crosses by cisse but he just doesnt look where he is crossing and fowler and moro are too slow to catch up with his runs..... alonso is quality though
-
completelly dominant in midfield, so comfortable that troare looks like a world class defender, our strikers have no pace, no skill, no finishing, no ability to turn shoot or find the target. Kewell is our most dangerous player.

The fact that they are stupid enough to come out and say it boggles the mind
-
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=360416&cc=5739 can't believe anyone is stupid enough to say this before the game. I hope the ref is reading this. Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho has claimed Barcelona forward Lionel Messi's theatrics have 'opened the road' for Blues players to do the same in the second leg of their Champions League tie in the Nou Camp. Messi, the brilliant 18-year-old Argentina international, was criticised for over-reacting after a challenge from Asier Del Horno, which resulted in the Chelsea left-back being sent off in the 2-1 defeat last week. 'Messi is a good player but he has opened the road for some Chelsea players to do the same thing in Barcelona,' said the Portugal centre-back ahead of Tuesday's second leg. 'Messi acted like an artist. He exaggerated everything he could and started to roll around on the field like he had been killed. 'He deceived the referee well, but these type of things are a part of football.'

Since when did we start laughing at our own players misfortunes. Its not like he's been breaking his own legs to avoid playing now is it?

They're disappointed that such a question is even asked. flogging a dead horse and all that. Its unthinkable anyway.

Agree with you there. At the time it was ok but if sung again it could be deemed as provocative.....
-
No I'm calling for restraint because its common sense. And when it comes to the point that even they are calling for it you know things have gone pretty far.
-
I must admit I am very surprised by some of the responses on here. Even the bile spewing venomous idiots on redcafe are calling for restraint because they realize that things are on the verge of going too far. Sad that some on here can't see it.

Can't be arsed to read the whole thread, but crap like this starts as people singing munich and shipman songs and then tends to escalate. Don't ever assume that people won't cross that line. Give them an inch and they will go much much further. Those who condone such actions (singing that s****) should take a serious look at themselves. They may not be the ones attacking ambulances but they indirectly encourage those who do by creating an ugly atmosphere.
