  1. I think it's not a case of who we think would be the "easiest" draw. I think it's quite the reverse. Every team in pot 1 will dread being drawn against us. I do hope it's Madrid though.
  2. It wasn't funny for us. We were 2-0 up and had a player sent off for no obvious reason. Absolutely laughable. Then we were denied a stonewall penalty when Capaldi was blatantly tripped when we were 2-1 down. That referee was struck off the UEFA list after the game and rightly so. He was absolutely hopeless. And the game also saw Andy Smith - a Northern Irish league striker - come on. But he was so poor he had to be taken off again.
  3. Pourie and Ecclestone seem to be scoring for fun in the U18s as well. I haven't had a chance to see many reserve games this season, but how far do you think Nemeth would be from the first team? Maybe a couple of years before he starts to make the breakthrough?
  4. It wasn't actually. Michael Hughes flung himself into Savage and sent him flying (it was a pretty bad tackle). Savage got up, basically asking "what the f***?" and Hughes pushed him to the ground. Hughes should have been sent off for the tackle, but Savage was ridiculously unlucky. I'm a Northern Irish fan, but even I could see that the decision to send Savage off in that game was laughable.
  5. When I refer to a hysterical reaction, I am referring to a minority of Liverpool fans who have the "I want it now" attitude. We were unlucky against Reading - dodgy penalty, flukey free kick and goal on the break when we were pushing forward. But some have decided that we haven't a cat's chance in hell of winning the league after one defeat in 15-odd games.
  6. Momo has shown on many occasions that he has good range with his passing and has the ability to pass very well indeed. To me, he seems to panic a bit when he gets the ball and he isn't always sure where he should pass it once he receives it. This causes him to hesitate, panic more and lose the ball sometimes. I think this is one of the things Lucas is brilliant at though - he always seems to know where he's going to pass the ball after he receives it.
  7. Voronin was very, very poor. Again. I must admit to being slightly concerned by his recent downturn. He's had a couple of really good games in between, but he's been generally poor for a while now. Gerrard Torres Mascherano
  8. We can point to the fact that Reading scored from a dodgy penalty, a free kick that went straight in (Doyle didn't touch it) and a goal on the break when we were pushing forward. We can also highlight that we had two strong cases for a penalty denied, that we struck the woodwork twice and that Carra nearly set up Crouch etc. Or we could look at Arsenal. I was at the Boro/Arsenal game yesterday and they were abject. Absolutely awful. Boro were first to everything and Arsenal were rightly beaten after being played off the pitch. You don't see an hysterical reaction from Arsenal fans do you? We lost to Reading, they lost to Middlesbrough and United lost to Bolton last week. Results like this happen occasionally. It's disappointing, we have a right to feel agrieved with the way the game panned out but it's over and we have a must win game tomorrow night that - in the long run - is far more important that one league game is.
  9. I think it's fair to say that Valencia have a lot of the "old guard" still in the team. It wouldn't surprise me if they decided to cash in on Villa to allow Koeman to build a new team with the money. Whether we would be the beneficiaries of such a scenario is open to question.
  10. I thought Berbatov's approach to the penalty was quality. "It's not on the spot? That's fine. I'll move it back and score anyway." He had some great touches last night as well. Great player.
  11. A mixture of 1 and 2. If he proves he deserves a chance here then great - if he doesn't then we can give the impression we value him anyway and bleed the buying club dry.
  12. He'll probably end up getting the operation in January, thus missing the ACN.

Arbeloa will have to fill in at CB over the Xmas period. Sami will really struggle given how quickly one game follows another.
  14. The problem with Spurs is the squad balance. Jol wanted to Martin Petrov in the summer but Comolli decided to buy Darren Bent instead. It's a ridiculous system there. They're basically playing with no left winger and no holding midfielder. They usually play with Jenas and Zokora and both of them like to go forward. It's another argument against the director of football/head coach system that some teams favour.
  15. Ideally they'll beat Arsenal on Wednesday night. I really dislike Allardyce, but this is one of the few times that I hope his team win.
  16. I'm pretty sure he did mate.
  17. Did Rafa not claim that he first noticed Voronin when he played against us in the CL last 16 for Leverkusen?
  18. No-one knows if he's coming at all yet.
  19. The Russian season finishes in the winter, so I assume his contract will run until then. I can't see them giving him a contract until half way through their season.
  20. Yep, I've seen it. I assumed he had found it from another source other than Wikipedia.
  21. Care to elaborate?
  22. Can anyone confirm that his contract has actually ran out? I haven't a clue where you're able to find these things out.
  23. That's Vagner Love. He also plays/played at CSKA.
  24. Link.
  25. We must wait until the 16th December before it is confirmed. Obviously.
