http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtm...5/sfnliv105.xml Liverpool in tug of war as DIC close in on deal By David Bond, Chief Sports Reporter. Last Updated: 12:40am GMT 05/03/2008 Liverpool's chief executive, Rick Parry, was involved last night in crucial talks between Dubai International Capital and lawyers for George Gillett, as the Arab investment company tried to close a deal for the American's 50 per cent stake in the club. Although Gillett's co-owner, Tom Hicks, continued to insist yesterday that he would block him from selling out to DIC, The Daily Telegraph can reveal that negotiations between Gillett's legal team, Parry and PCP Capital Partners, advisers to the Dubai group, continued late into the night. They broke up shortly before 11pm with no agreement with Gillett reached. Although the offer, thought to be in the region of £80 million, would give Gillett a massive profit on his initial £7m cash investment in the club last February, it is understood he is holding out for more. Talks are expected to resume this morning. While Parry's involvement in the negotiations would appear to suggest he is controversially siding with DIC in their bid for control, a source close to the Liverpool chief executive insisted last night that he had been invited to the meeting near Westminster as an independent observer. The source stressed that Parry's prime role at the meeting was to protect the interests of the club. The critical talks came at the end of a day when DIC raised the stakes in the battle for control of Anfield. Speaking for the first time in public about DIC's second bid for Liverpool inside 13 months, Sameer Al Ansari, chief executive of DIC, confirmed the talks and accused Hicks and Gillett of being in "dreamland" over their valuations of the club. "It's no secret that we have been in discussions with the current owners," Al Ansari said. "It's not easy because the owners are in dreamland about valuations at the moment." With Hicks defiantly refusing to go quietly, the key to the success of DIC's latest raid on Anfield now hinges on the outcome of talks with Gillett. advertisement DIC yesterday made an offer worth more than £450m to the Americans, who bought Liverpool for £220m last February. That offer includes the £350m of debt recently refinanced by Hicks and Gillett with Royal Bank of Scotland and US investment bank Wachovia, plus at least £25m in cash to Hicks and around £80m to Gillett in return for their equity. Hicks immediately rejected the offer yesterday and, according to sources close to the Texan billionaire, made it clear that he not only has first refusal on Gillett's shares but also has the power to veto anyone he tries to sell them to. It is also understood that he now wants to buy one per cent of Gillett's stock, giving him the protection of a 51 per cent majority holding and allowing him to obtain complete control at Anfield. He has indicated he would allow Gillett to dispose of his remaining 49 per cent but would still be unlikely to endorse a deal with DIC. One DIC source dismissed the threat last night, claiming it would trigger a change of control clause in the terms of the new loans which were signed off in January. DIC believe they have the backing of the banks to press ahead with their bid for control of the club. Nevertheless Hicks' determination to remain in charge at Liverpool remains undimmed and even if DIC manage to clinch a deal with Gillett, they may be forced to accept an uneasy power sharing arrangement with Hicks. DIC have made it clear, however, that they want complete management control of the club. Liverpool fans anxious for an end to this saga will fear the effects of a stalemate between warring owners. Despite Hicks' defiance, DIC are confident that it will only be a matter of time before he agrees to do a deal with them. They believe his American business empire is in trouble and the failure of recent attempts to raise money through a partial flotation of Hicks Holdings in the US have wrecked any hopes he had of seeing off the threat of DIC by buying out Gillett himself. ***** Man, this is some roller-coaster! G+H please just go!!! Go Go Go!!!

I love Rafael Benitez. He is the Don! Hopefully, when the takeover is done and dusted, we'll learn more about Rafas role in exposing G+H. I cant believe it was not so long ago that comments against G+H were being brushed off. I remember it very well, and remember saying that those of us who didnt like G+H should keep the momentum going against these fools. No sooner had i said that that the Klinsmann stuff became common knowledge. And that was what broke the camels back as they say. Anyway, CTR goes on to say that Rafa despises Hicks, but he is playing a clever clever game of 'divide and conquer'. There is no doubt in my mind that Rafa absolutely loves Liverpool FC, the club, the supporters, and the city. He's been humiliated in the past few months. The man could have walked. He's stuck it out, and by the end of the day we could be fourth place, and eleven points behind Man Utd, and twelve behind Arsenal. That may well not be good enough, but i think Rafa has done well considering the awful circumstances that we are still having to endure. I cant wait till these muppets, G+H are gone forever.
-
Right good minded genuine lovers of Liverpool FC. We have a problem here, and a solution. We want G+H out. We want DIC in. So we have to work on both fronts. It is obvious that DIC are bothered about image, and what the supporters think. The supporters want DIC and so DIC have come back for a second time. This time we have to support them. Of course there are already movements to remove this cancer from our club, and credit must be given to those who are active in their wanting to remove G+H. So we have to maintain the pressure. In business the customer is simply the most important individual. &*%$ off the customer, and you then %&$ off your business. Simple as that. At the same time we must do our utmost to support Rafael Benitez, and the players. So quite obviously it is a delicate matter. But i sincerely believe we can have the final say. Somehow. If anyone has ideas then please dont be afraid to come forward. It doesnt matter if you get laughed at or ridiculed. Someone somewhere will come up with something powerful enough to have an influence. Thicks and Gillett are not God. Their motive and drive is money. Although i detest greedy people, and would want their greed to be their undoing, for now i would donate to DIC to kick these guys out once and for all. A mass boycott of official merchandise is an absolute must. If you love Liverpool FC then please place a temporary hold on purchases from the club, e-season tickets etc. It will have an effect. We have to fight Thicks. He has a PR machine, but they seem to be pretty useless. We have to expose these fools. We have to bring as much negative impact on their overall image. I promise you it will have an effect, and will hurt them.
-
We simply cannot accept defeat this time round. I dont care what it is going to take, but we have to get rid of both of these muppets. Its as simple as that. We cannot allow Thicks to drive one of the top footballing clubs in the world to go into freefall. It is unbelievable that there are no laws in place, either nationally or internationally to protect priceless institutions like our club. To say that Liverpool FC should be a protected world heritage site is an understatement. I think that with the help of pro-Liverpool journalists like Barrett, Bascombe, Kay etc we really need to go into overdrive to expose the unprecedented ignorance and sheer greed that these two men have is desstroying us. World football would not be the same without the great sides that are Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Man Utd (admittedly), and not least Liverpool who simply exist to win trophies, by playing quality football. Any money that is made should first and foremost be utilised to make the club win even more trophies, and thereafter to 'reward' those who have put the effort and the hard-work into making the team successful, and not to line the pockets of some greedy &%*$£%$ whose only interest in pound/dollar signs. Liverpool FC are quite simply in the wrong hands. They will remain in the wrong hands until G+H are kicked out for good. These fools have to meet their death one day. They will be forever remembered for making a laughing stock of Liverpool FC. There is simply no way that they can undo things. No amount of pounds, dollars will rescue them in their graves. I, myself, am willing to erase these two fools from my memory, if they quite simply take the money and walk. This is the most i can offer them. It is an offer too good to be true. It is so sad that simple, decent Americans should have their image tarnished by individuals who behave senselessly, without remorse. Perhaps thicks will come out and say that he has had great visions of Pluto, Lakshmi, Tsai Shen Yeh or some other god of wealth who have beckoned him on, to make more money. He wont. I can promise thicks that his uncontrollable, insatiable greed will be his final undoing. One day these muppets will be gone. God-willing. I cannot wait for that day.
-
I wasnt. I knew these guys were complete muppets from the start. And to think that Moores got suckered by these clowns is simply embarrasing. Anyway, thats the past. Now we must ensure that both these clowns are thrown out once and for all.
-
to NYR and all those actively supporting getting these fools out of here. We have to get these muppets out once and for all. Who dares &%$£ with Liverpool FC and its life-long supporters.
-
headbutt it - like i did

Why, thank you Elisha. This is marvellous marvellous news. Theres going to be some major partying once these muppets have finally gone...gone forever!!!

Liverpool weigh up swoop for Pablo Aimar Jan 26 2008 : Daily Post RAFA BENITEZ is weighing up a swoop for Argentinian playmaker Pablo Aimar. The Liverpool boss is looking into the possibility of signing Aimar from Real Zaragoza after being alerted to his availability. Benitez has managed Aimar previously when the pair worked together at Valencia – a time which Aimar openly admits was his most productive as a player. Since then he has gone on to star for Zaragoza in La Liga after a £8.5m move from Valencia in July 2006. Though a hugely popular figure among the Zaragoza fans, Aimar is believed to be ready to test himself in the Premiership and new Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan has already registered an interest in taking him to the north east. But Benitez is monitoring the situation and could be prepared to make a move for Aimar – whom Diego Maradona once described as his "legitimate successor as the world's best player" – if the price is right. With the transfer window set to close next Thursday, Liverpool would have to move fast if they are to secure a deal for the attacking midfielder. But with the club set to receive a fee in the region of £9m for Momo Sissoko, and Benitez having received the backing of co-owner Tom Hicks, there is nothing to stand in the way of them making an offer. The 28-year-old has been linked with Liverpool before, shortly after Benitez quit Valencia to take over at Anfield, but no move transpired. At the time Aimar said: "Rafa Benitez is an excellent coach who knows me very well and Liverpool would be an ideal place to go if I cannot sort out my future here. "From what I can see, English football is the best in Europe next to Spain and I do not think I would have a problem adapting to the Premiership. ***** Could be a useful signing, no?

Well the only profits this detestable clown is likely to see are the ones made from accepting a bid from DIC. Ignorant greedy fool. Take your money and clear off you mother of all prats!
-
Please God let this be true. Can you imagine the sheer outburst of joy and overwhelming emotion this will provide to all of us. I think, nay, i know i'll be in tears. No amount of money could have brought DIC this amount of positive PR. Rafa Benitez is a legend.
-
Are these muppets still here? Please for the Love of God, and the Love of Money, please accept the bid. Take the money and run while you can. Because youre not wanted, needed, or welcomed at our club. Getting shot of G+H would be like Istanbul again...a rollercoaster with a fabulous end. I dont care what people may think of DIC but having a supporter on board is fabulous in itself, and to say that the Dubai Arabs are competent is an understatement. I was quite shocked at how DIC had been displaced last year, and never did buy the promises of these individuals. Rafa Benitez smelt a rat early on, and his post-Athens rant proves this. No matter what happens from here onwards, but Rafa Benitez is quite simply one of the best things that happened to this club, and i will take no hesitation in telling him so myself, personally. For Rafa Benitez - read Liverpool Legend!!!

FFS! This soap opera needs to be ended once and for all. Sack Rafa? Thats like pulling the trigger with the revolver placed firmly against ones thick head! How stupid would a move like that be.
-
I know its not the best thing, but unfortunately they deserve it.
-
Thanks for alerting us Boca. These guys are Muppets of the Highest order. They should be the Dead Men Walking, not Rafa!
-
I think none of this makes sense and is all ludicrous. How can we be facing a situation as stupid as this. We have one of the worlds best footballers wanting to stay, Rafa wanting him to stay, the team wanting him to stay, me and you wanting him to stay...and we get told that we dont have the money to pay for him. What a lot of twaddle. Who are these G+H guys that have come and managed to buy this club. I'm utterly flabbergasted at how it all happened, how it all turned out. If G+H (or Gillett alone) have any thoughts of staying here they better start getting their act together. Allowing Monster to slip through the net would be outrageous and totally unacceptable. The whole point of the take-over was to take the club forward. If i was in G+Hs position i would quite simply loan 'the club' some of my own money (if i had enough i'd just give it really) and they can have it back when finances improve. These men are not paupers. They just dont have the love for this beautiful club of ours. Make Monster Red. There should not even be talk of selling Stevie, Xabi, Lucas, and even Momo.
-
Thank God... that youre just saying
-
Who are these Bosman guys? What, are they any good? What position do they play? Sorry i just had to i couldnt resist
-
I'm afraid that anyone who thinks Moaninho is a better manager than Rafa is blinded. Managing Porto and Chelsea is very much different to managing Liverpool. Moaninho is held as the promised messiah at Chelsea, but they were already within touching distance under Ranieri. Rafa comes in, gets hold of a messed up squad, hauls us into two champions league finals, wins one of them, and maintains a direction towards the top, and how does he get treated? Its an utter disgrace. Quite shambolic really, and its so unLiverpool like. Its sad. People only fully realise the true value of something in retrospect. I hope that wont be the case here, but i'm not filled with confidence.
-
£17m is a lot of money indeed. But when its being paid for someone who at 23 is quite possibly the best holding midfielder in the world, with 35 caps already to his name, having played every minute of every game in the 2006 World Cup for Argentina, being voted Argentinas best player in the Copa America 2004 and regarded as one of the best in the more recent 2007 competition, i dare say that £17 million for this little fella, a 'monster of a player, and destined for great things' is an absolute steal. El Jefe would walk in to any team anywhere. His signing on a permanent deal is an absolute must. We dont want Snoogy Doogy, we want Monster. Quite simple really!
-
The wise man has spoken! We were never out of the league title yesterday, or at any time this season. We have everything, i mean everything to play for. I'll be praying for a victory in the next two games like never before. I cannot believe that we are even discussing Rafa losing his job. Sometimes even Senor Benitez can get it wrong, but the overall picture is beginning to look promising indeed. He really has completely overhauled the squad and got rid of a lot of dead wood. There are world class players all over the park, and i trust this man to bring in even better players to improve on what we have. Winning the league title is only a matter of time. Trust!
-
Pro Rafa would be under-statement of the year! i'm in love with this man.
