  1. I can never understand when people underestimate Arsenal, no matter who plays they will always be a dangerous side and this is going to be a real tough game. It seems every season when a big player leaves them pundits are quick to predict their demise, and although they aren't a title winning side they will be there or thereabouts again this season.
  2. From ESPN Milosevic dad killed by grandad June 11, 2011 Former Aston Villa striker Savo Milosevic has suffered the death of his father - at the hands of his grandfather. Empics / BarryCoombsSavo Milosevic: Asked for privacy in event of awful family events Grandfather Savo Senior, 83, shot 58-year-old Stevo Milosevic in the chest with a M-48 rifle at the Milosevic's family home in Glavicice, Bosnia- Herzegovina after an argument about a property dispute Stevo Milosevic died in hospital after an ambulance was called, and his father was arrested at the scene by police. Savo Milosevic, 37, released a statement to Serbian newspaper Tanjug. "We ask the media to spare the family and give us time to cope with the tragedy so we can pull ourselves together," he said in the statement. Milosevic played for Villa between 1995 and 1998 and also played for the likes of Real Zaragoza, Parma and Osasuna and won 102 caps for Serbia before ending his career with Rubin Kazan.
  3. Classy from Agger - Source - The Guardian Fernando Torres failed to show Liverpool respect, says Daniel Agger• 'It is unacceptable to play for one of Liverpool's arch rivals' • 'I will never go to another club in England' Daniel Agger has denounced Fernando Torres for showing a lack of "respect" for Liverpool by joining Chelsea but admitted the Merseysiders' dismal start to the season had contributed heavily to the Spaniard's inconsistent form. The Denmark centre-half has been a key member of the Liverpool side revitalised under Kenny Dalglish, rising to sixth in the table and six points from the fourth Champions League qualification place. The arrival of the £23m Luis Suárez from Ajax and Newcastle's Andy Carroll for a club record £35m could add even more impetus, potentially offsetting the £50m departure of Torres to Stamford Bridge. The Spaniard's move, triggered by a desire to leave Anfield, frustrated Agger. "It is unacceptable to play for one of Liverpool's arch rivals," he said. "For a Dane, it's about having respect for the club you play at. I am proud to be able to pull on my Liverpool jersey and will never go to another club in England. I would never go to Manchester United or Everton, for example. It's about a form of respect for the club. "I suppose Liverpool got a lot of money for him and, if the player doesn't want to be there any more, there is no reason to keep him. I should say I think everyone at Melwood liked him and still do, because he is a good guy and we wish him all the best in a blue shirt – except against us." Asked why Torres's form had been so stodgy in the first half of the season, Agger said: "That is a big question, isn't it? How to explain that ... Look at the team – we played awful, we were s***. And he is a part of the team. When every element of the team plays well, he plays a lot better. It is the same for everybody – for me, for Stevie [Gerrard], everyone. When the team are performing, look at every single player and he is playing better. But when we are losing, everybody is on top of us. Everybody is playing poorly." Liverpool have rediscovered their poise in recent weeks, with Dalglish overseeing a run of four successive victories, the last of which came at Torres's expense last Sunday. "A big part of it is down to Kenny and [the coach] Steve Clarke," said Agger. "They have made a major difference. But it is also something to do with confidence, because we are the same footballers. Confidence can win games and, somehow, Kenny and Steve have put the confidence back into the players. It is looking good, but there is still a long way to go." Liverpool's assistant manager, Sammy Lee, attended Denmark's defeat to England in Copenhagen to watch Agger's international team-mate Christian Eriksen. The impressive 18-year-old midfielder is attracting interest from several leading clubs, including Arsenal and Milan, but believes his apprenticeship is best served by staying with Ajax and that he may not suit a move to the Premier League. "I think I'm going to play in Ajax until my contract expires," said Eriksen. "There are a lot of young players who are busy looking at other clubs but that's not the way I think. There are still lots for me to learn and improve, and I can do that in Ajax, which is one of the best clubs in the world to develop talents. "Every time Ajax are playing there are clubs watching me. So, yes, Liverpool have probably seen me, but I am not spending time wondering about it. No matter what, the Premier League is not the most obvious place for me to go. I'm not sure that I've got the physical ability to play there. Serie A or La Liga would suit me better, but it [a transfer] is not going to happen now." Dalglish has rejected a claim that Carroll could miss the rest of this season with the thigh injury that has delayed his Liverpool debut. The forward has not played since 28 December but Liverpool's caretaker manager insisted: "We said right at the beginning that it will be a few weeks. There is nothing sinister in it. "He has been thoroughly checked over, he is progressing well and I think whoever made that assertion has got a good chance of being wrong." The Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has been ruled out for 12 weeks with a knee tendon problem.
  4. Fowler expresses 'hurt' at Torres defection NEIL DEVEY and JONATHAN COOK, The West Australian February 4, 2011, 11:31 am Robbie Fowler today displayed his dismay at Fernando Torres' departure from Liverpool as he and his Perth Glory teammates fronted up for the Queensland flood victims. Former Reds striker Fowler said there was "something not quite right" about Torres' $A80 million move to Chelsea earlier this week. And the 35-year-old Scouser sported a Liverpool top with the Spaniard's name on as part of 'The Shirts That Hurt' fundraiser for victims of the recent floods. "There is nothing wrong with the front of the shirt, it is the name on the back," Fowler said. "I think it is quite apt to wear it for a worthy cause as it is something myself or any other Liverpool fan wouldn't be seen in." In a quirk of the fixture list Torres is set to make his Chelsea debut this Sunday against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge - with his former fans ready to give the World Cup winner a rough ride. "There's something not quite right about the Spaniard's last-minute transfer to Chelsea and the Liverpool fans have been up in arms," Fowler wrote in his column in The West Australian today. "Only a couple of weeks ago Torres was talking about how much he loved the fans and the club. He won't be getting a warm welcome next time he plays at Anfield. "As a Liverpool fan it was disappointing to see Torres leave because on his day he's a world-class player and I want the best players at the club. But if I was a manager and a player said he didn't want to be at the club I'd try to get the best deal I could." Although they lost Torres Liverpool did splash out around $A95m on Newcastle's Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez from Ajax. Suarez scored on his Liverpool debut in the 2-0 midweek win over Stoke but Carroll is currently sidelined through injury and Fowler says it is uncertain whether he can prove a suitable replacement for Torres. "Liverpool have probably ended up paying over the odds for Carroll, who cost £35 million," Fowler wrote. "He is 22 and has been outstanding this season but he doesn't have a lot of experience at this level. It's hard to know whether he can keep that up year after year." - Fowler was joined today by Glory colleagues Naum Sekulovski, Steven McGarry, Josh Mitchell and Adriano Pellegrino in 'The Shirts That Hurt' fundraiser. Collingwood supporter Sekulovski donned the colours of Hawthorn, while Port Adelaide follower Pellegrino wore a Crows guernsey. Mitchell, a Manchester United supporter, sported a Chelsea kit, Scotland rugby fan McGarry was an All Black for the day, while NBA nut Scott Neville dropped the Chicago Bulls for the LA Lakers.

  8. What the hell is all that suppose to mean
  9. I really hope we sign someone better than Carlton Cole, West Ham fans would piss themselves laughing if we ended up buying him for anwhere near the £10m quoted.
  10. Than let us all pray that Gomez says yes!!
  11. Shame it's a unreliable source, Llorente would be a good signing - and could see him linking up well in a front two with Torres.
  12. I'd be delighted with that, Diarra alongside Raul M in midfield with Gerrard playing advance behind Torres. Never going to happen though
  13. Good game for the youngsters to get some experience of playing at Anfield
  14. Fecking hell, seems like we are going to sign every defensive midfielder in the world according to the press Sh@t source but here you go Goal - Liverpool bid for Diarra EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool Join Race To Sign Real Madrid's Lassana Diarra As They Seek Javier Mascherano's Replacement Merseysiders competing with Spurs for Madrid midfielder By Wayne Veysey | Chief correspondent Aug 28, 2010 11:33:00 AM Liverpool have made a move for Lassana Diarra as they step up their bid to replace Javier Mascherano, Goal.com UK can reveal. The Merseysiders have made an enquiry for the Real Madrid midfielder, 25, who has been told he is surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu. Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has been told by the Anfield hierarchy that he will get only a proportion of the money from the Mascherano deal, which is worth up to £22 million. Christian Poulsen has already been brought in from Juventus for £4m but Hodgson wants another central midfield enforcer and believes Diarra fits the bill. The former Le Havre, Chelsea, Arsenal and Portsmouth player, a France international, has been placed on a ‘for sale’ list by Real sporting director Jorge Valdano and could be available for as little as £9m. Tottenham are also continuing to monitor Diarra’s situation even though manager Harry Redknapp has said that his wage demands are a problem. Diarra is reported to earn £71,000-a-week net in Madrid, but Spurs believe the promise of regular first-team football could help a deal to be done for around £80,000-a-week gross. Another possibility being considered by both Tottenham and Liverpool is to take the Frenchman on loan for a season, with the shortfall in his wages being met by Real. Both clubs are keen on Scott Parker but West Ham are holding out for £14m for the 29-year-old, which is viewed as prohibitive. Spurs have had an £8m bid for the midfielder rejected and, even though his wage demands are lower than Diarra’s, they believe the Real man offers better value. Carlo Cudicini, who will return to the Tottenham team for their Premier League match against Wigan on Saturday after Heurelho Gomes sustained a groin injury in midweek, was a team-mate of Diarra’s at Stamford Bridge under Mourinho. “He was quite young when he was at Chelsea and then played for Arsenal and Real Madrid,” said Cudicini. “He is definitely a great player. This club has some great players but it’s up to the manager if he wants to bring in some new ones. “The season could definitely bring good things. We are going to be in the Champions League and that is a massive achievement for this club. For us, it’s the first time we are going to be there. We need to enjoy it. The team has great quality.”
  15. He currently having his medical according to Sky - here's hoping it fails it Reds medical for Konchesky Defender to tie up move in next 24 hours Last updated: 28th August 2010 Reds medical for Konchesky Skysports.com understands Paul Konchesky is currently undergoing a medical with Liverpool. The Reds agreed a fee with Fulham for the left-back on Friday evening and he was given permission to travel to Merseyside to hold talks. As revealed by skysports.comLiverpool have offered young duo Lauri Dalla Valle and Alex Kacaniklic to Fulham as part of the deal to bring the defender to Anfield. Fulham cleared the way for Konchesky to leave Craven Cottage after sealing a move for Mexican defender Carlos Salcido from PSV Eindhoven on Friday. Konchesky has been a long-term target for Reds boss Roy Hodgson ever since his arrival at Anfield earlier this summer. Liverpool are hoping to tie up the move in the next 24 hours and the full-back is expected to stay on Merseyside to watch Liverpool's clash with West Brom on Sunday.
  16. If we can't find any better than Konchesky I'd rather keep Insua (along with Aurelio) and use that £3m to strenghen other parts of the squad on players who would really make us a better team.
  17. You obviously have'nt seen much of Konchesky than
  18. Also can't rule out Insua and maybe even Lucas (if those reports are true) leaving before the end of Tuesday
  19. Some rumours about Fabiano joining Spurs, maybe that
  20. Granted i have'nt seen a massive amount of Salcido, but I've seen quite a lot of Konchesky due to the fact one of our directors has a couple of Fulham season tickets and he has'nt impressed me in the slighest - mediocre player IMO. The only way it will improve our squad is that he'll stay more fit longer Aurélio - other than that Aurélio is a better player
  21. I'd had rather have kept Insua and spent the money elsewhere or even better signed Saceido for less - personaly don't rate Konchesky at all
  22. ohh great, here we go - guess it was inevitable Source - Sky Sports Konchesky set for Reds medical Cottagers stopper poised for Hodgson reunion Sky Sports Sources understand Fulham defender Paul Konchesky will undergo a medical at Liverpool this weekend. Reds manager Roy Hodgson confirmed earlier this week he had spoken to his former club over a possible move for the left-back. And 29-year-old Konchesky, a regular during Hodgson's time at Craven Cottage, now appears likely for a reunion with his former boss on Merseyside. The stopper, a twice-capped England international, arrived at Fulham from West Ham three years ago.
