  1. The bottom line is that the Chairmain and board directors have a legal responsibility to conduct the affairs of the club in the shareholders' best interests. Recommeding that shareholders accept a lower offer for their shares in a potential takeover when a higher offer exists without due inquiry into and consideration of the higher offer would be considered negligent practice and could get the Directors involved disqualified from being able to hold a board membership for a period of time. End of.
  2. I'd rather be mates with mates of Bush than not. Look at Iraq. p.S Not really.
  3. Whoever is buying us needs 90% of the shares. If a significant number of minor shareholders want to hold out they could screw it for everyone. Hence a group owning 15-20% between them could be a real pain in the a***. Look what happened when Murdoch bought those ITV shares - only 18% - but it was enough to make NTL drop its interest as they knew News International would make their lives a misery in any potential take over.
  4. Was disappointed it wasn't the teutonic super-scorer who could rescue us in the dying minutes of a game with his startlingly brilliant forward play.
  5. Don't you like £5000 goldfish?
  6. Moores appointed Parry to run the business of the club and Peter Robinson ran it before Parry. Just curious as to when David Moores has ever been a hands-on, running the business of Liverpool type of Chairman.
  7. No, its all true. A deposit had been paid for the plague of locusts to God's Vengeful Wrath, Ltd. before someone realised that it was derby day and cancelled the whole thing.

  9. I've been reliably informed that if it wasn't for it being a Derby this weekend there would have been a plague of locusts at Anfield and rivers of blood would have run through the streets outside. All called off now though because we're playing Everton.

  20. True. If we were playing in a pan european league then I would be unequivocally certain that a new stadium was a good idea.
  21. For now you are right on the basic maths and I said as much. What happens when the TV deal hits £10billion? £20 billion? Don't think it will happen? Did you think it would be as high as it is now 10 years ago? The world wide audience is growing - the local one is shrinking. I also said I wasn't sure. Just means I have doubts on both sides, not that I have an absolute certainty that a new stadium is wrong.
  22. Income from broadcast deals is beginning to dwarf that from the sale of seats. I was all for a new stadium when it first came up (3-4 years ago?), but now I'm not so sold on the idea. Maybe the income from selling corporate boxes will still be a major portion of the overall income cake for another 5 years, but I can't see it going beyond that. The bubble will burst, clubs will be reigned in, broadcast rights will be the major money spinner. How important an extra 15000 seats are in that context is up for debate.

  25. "That good will only lasts so long"? Pardon? We're third in the league and playing well. We've got a CL game against Barcelona coming up soon and some recently new shiney silver pots increasing the insurance premium yet again at the club. Yet our goodwill will only last so long? When we're fighting relegation and haven't seen a cup final up close for 10 years you may have a point. Until then you're just a spoilt kid who got told he can't have the toy he wanted.
