Salary cap is very important, draft isn't. MLS and A-league in Australia are 2 very successful football leagues at least commercially if not quality wise. Both are very competitive, not much difference usually between top and bottom teams.

Moral high ground from a fan of a club whose owner is a certain mr Usmanov? Ha-ha

My take on all this. The idea. the concept is not bad. Some of the best most popular sports leagues are organized under this concept in different parts of the world from North America to Australia. Even in Europe in other sports like basketball this concept works well. But with every such start-up you need good PR and PR strategy was non-existent. I still don't understand how serious business people can make such amateur mistakes. But I also don't understand why this Superleague crash is presented as a victory for the fans. Victory for UEFA mafia, yes. Victory for sheikh clubs, its a green light for their continued uncurbed spending, yes. Florentino Perez said yesterday that Citeh torpedoed Superleague plans from the start (well he said "one English club" but in the context of the interview it was clear its Citeh) and I believe him. But victory for the fans, really? Michael Cox wrote a nice article in the Athletic about staggering rampant inequality in most European football leagues now. Thats the real issue, how you can allow a state owned club in the Premier League? Why don't fans protest against this? I am perprexed.

You can't do it in the PL alone, all the top players will just move away then. But in theory you can do smth like this in the Superleague.
-
We do have promotions and relegations now but what are the chances that a sheykh club like Citeh wil be relegated from PL? None. Level playing field is the biggest issue!
-
Yes they don't have promotions and relegations on sporting terms, only on economic terms. But at least there is a level playing field within the league, a concept non-existent in European football. Personally I d like to keep promotions and relegations in some form, may be based on the results of several seasons and not one season like they do it in South America. But its not the first concern for me, first concern is level playing field within the league.
-
And at last we 'll have neutral refs and not those manc tw*ts every other game
-
I don't have a particularly strong opinion, need more info. But if (a big if) its organized like American sports leagues where everything is done to create a level playing field then I quite like the idea. European football league system is broken anyway, in most leagues you know future champion before the start of the season...
-
Are Leicester really a good example? They were bankrolled by their Thai owner, not every club can have such owners. They were even fined for breaking FFP rule.
-
Lots of hypocrisy around the Super League coverage. I have mixed feelings about this project but current European and English football pyramid is broken anyway. Small clubs have a chance for glory only in theory, in practice you win only if shaykh pumps money into your club.

Kabak has his deficiencies but he is a 20 year old centreback with already 2 years of experience in the top league. Where was VVD at this age? Where were most of our other legendary centrebacks at this age? The guy has enormous potential if our coaching staff can make him a bit calmer and more composed on the ball then sky is the limit.
-
Yeah, already in trouble and almost certain relegation will complicate matters further.

I think Lovren just liked one of Trump's tweets it doesn't mean he is Trump supporter. May be yes may be no.

If we are going to be too scrupulous on footballers personal life and their political beliefs then we 'll struggle to sign anyone. I have a very strong opinion on human rights, politics, what is wrong and what is right and I 'll be very uncomfortable if we had owners like Everton have. In fact I wouldn't support Liverpool in that case. But footballers are just young men who could make mistakes and in countries like Turkey they are pawns in dirty political game.

Kabak
-
Potential is there to see, pace, athleticism. Technical ability for a centreback is excellent. A bit concerning is his love for a rash tackle, often in the penalty area. Hopefully with experience he 'll become calmer.
-
I believe in our scouting department. Yes, 25 years old and Championship the highest level he played but Ollie Watkins also was a 25 year old Championship player several months ago. He was brilliant against us and not only against us, one of the best Premier League strikers this season.
-
Yeah its sh*t, most sides are League 2 or National League level. But Rangers are doing well not only in Scotland but also in Europe, they won their Europa group, 4 wins and 2 draws with Benfica. I doubt that for ex Everton would achieve this if they qualify for Europa
-
Not first choice cause their starting centrebacks are playing very well. But as I said whenever I saw him I was impressed. And he also had several years in the big league, in Germany with Mainz.
-
But its only stop-gap. If we can't sign someone decent then Balogun is better than nothing and is better than Rhys and Philipps.
-
I have one other stop-gap suggestion, Balogun from Rangers. He is not their first choice but whenever he played I was impressed. They literally won the league already so don't need him this season. May be Stevie can help us one more time and loan the guy to us?
-
Think he is too slow... but if we have no choice then its better than nothing.
-
Caleta Car is not our level but would be a good stop-gap solution. He is familiar playing in very high defensive line from his Salzburg days. Certainly he is miles better than Philipps and Rhys. Also I d like us to sign Kabak from Schalke, that guy potentially can be a long-term solution.

Not our Dani it is a Russian guy who changed his name several years ago in honor of Dani. Probably Liverpool fan also.
