Fella from Sky Germany just on SSN explaining the Wirtz situation. Bayern already has agreement with Wirtz. But they don't have agreement with Leverkusen who want £125m. Pretty much said that's too much for Bayern to pay. His contract runs to 2027. Sounds like his two options are to leave and come to us, or stay for another season or so, run his contract down a bit and stick to his guns about wanting to go to Munich, which seems unlikely given he's interested in playing for us.

if he's not signing a new contract we lose out anyway. If he's here for another season with no intention of signing, his best use is as cover for his long term replacement. Obviously that requires his long term replacement to be as good as or better than him, but that's the game isn't it? If he wants to sign a new contract that's fine. We can sell Gomez and/or Quansah.

Firstly it makes a huge difference because when players are successful at successful clubs, they tend to be really quite hard to sign. Secondly when it's a club that they support, they're almost impossible to sign and thirdly, because they value the relationship they have with their support, they don't leave for free and sign for clubs that their support view as rivals. I literally can't think of a comparable equivalent. That's before we get into that ****ing advert.

I'm really not having this. There's loads of players who come through at big clubs that win things and stay there their whole career. The ones that leave usually aren't first pick, think the team is on the way down or want significantly more money. They don't usually get their heads turned.
