    Momo Sissoko

Agree with that. I thought he was the pick of our midfielders in the first half an hour - competed well, drove forward with the ball and didn't misplace too many passes.
  2. If Fowler can shed a stone or two, then I'd hang onto him and Crouch and let Cisse and Morientes go in the summer. We'd then bring in a top notch finisher (with Fowler as cover/competition) and bring in another target man as cover/competition for Crouch. A quality RM is essential just so that we at least have the OPTION of using Gerrard in CM.
  3. Liverpool 83/84 and chelsea 04/05 are the odd ones out as they are the only two where both the league title and the league cup were won.
  4. Liverpool 86/7 is an odd one out in that it wasn't a title-winning side but the others are (assuming Chelsea go on to win this year).
  5. If Crouch is occupying two of their players (i.e. Terry and Makelele) then in theory that should mean more space and time on the ball for someone else in our side.
  6. I'd agree with that.
  7. The side was strengthened in the summer with Reina, Sissoko and Crouch. Its more difficult to do business in the January window but still we managed to bring in Kromkamp, Agger and Fowler. As Knox says, at least 3 more strong signings in the summer (2 strikers and a RM?) and we move up another gear.
  8. I don't see how you reach that conclusion. We may not have the funds to revamp the side/squad overnight (as Chelsea have done) but there can still be substantial year-on-year progress (as we've seen this season already) to close the gap.
  9. I'd probably go with Didi ahead of Momo for this one but otherwise a good side.

    Bascombe

Not seen anything like that from him in a LFC shirt so far.
  11. OK answer me this: why did we sell him back in 2001 (or are we saying that was a mistake now)?
  12. No doubt he'll score goals at Anfield (not convinced about away from home) - I just question whether those goals will be worth the other stuff that comes with signing him. Clearly though, I hope you are all right and anders, Rushian, John L and myself are all wrong.
  13. He's hardly pulled up any trees in the intervening period.
  14. I can't get that excited because the real Fowler hasn't been seen since the summer of 1997 and I can remember all too well how much of a distraction the Fowler of 1997-2001 was.
  15. The idea of signing an experienced finisher on a free as a stop-gap measure until the summer I don't have a problem with. Its the fact that its Fowler and all the hysteria that comes with that which concerns me.
  16. Agree with that. I have to say I'm not bothered in the slightest that it looks like he's gone to Arsenal.
  17. Chris Sutton too.
  18. The whole article is pretty dubious to be honest. Its one thing saying he is the most complete footballer LFC have ever had but in the history of the game? You have the "Total Footballers" from the 70's (e.g. Neeskens), Gullit played in attack and defence, Rijkaard didn't have too many flaws in his game etc. Its no easy call.
  19. Agree with that.
  20. Crouch is a must for Old Trafford - neither Cisse or Morientes can be relied on to hold the ball up away from home.
  21. My heart and head are in agreement - both are saying no.
  22. I'm as bored as most by these Owen threads but couldn't let this ridiculous statement pass uncommented. He's always scored against the best sides and on the biggest occasions.
  23. Agree with that.
