  1. This is what I think is going to happen. He will be told we won't be prepared to negotiate with Chelsea because there's no time to bring in an ideal replacement. He will be asked to withdraw his transfer request and issue a statement committing himself to the club. But a gentleman's agreement will be reached between player and club which allows him to leave in the summer to the destination of his choice if we are compensated fairly.
  2. My gut feeling says Torres is staying...I think there will be a statement within 24 hours.
  3. I thought the FFP only come into effect from the 2012/2013 season. Am I rite or wrong ?
  4. There are people on other LFC forums saying the same thing...that we are in talks with Villa right now over Ashley Young. Don't know if its true or not.
  5. Are the players back in training tomorrow after their little break? Should be interesting.
  6. What a transfer merry-go-round this window could turn out to be. Based on rumours and confirmed reports by Monday, we would have signed Suarez, Ashley Young, Charlie Adam and sold Torres.
  7. Even Kenny doesn't rate Ngog. But in all seriousness, Kenny, Steve Clarke, etc better start thinking about who could suitably replace Torress whether he is sold within the next 48 hours or in the summer. We would need a centreforward c** targetman - Carroll or Llorente would be the best bets, maybe Kiesling.
  8. Anelka is 32 and Sturridge is not better than Ngog. Neither would make us better. However I would personally be interested in Andy Carroll. He's still only 21 and will probably get much better. Rumour that Spurs had a 23m bid turned down for him. If and its still a big IF for me, Torres is sold in this window, we should be looking at Carroll.
  9. I wonder if Kenny or Tom Werner will come out and say anything about this Torres stuff.
  10. Chelsea's transfer strategy this window doesn't seem to be working. They tried 52m for Godin and Aguerro and got rejected, they tried 21m for David Luiz and got rejected, now they are trying for Torres. No disrespect to Athletico and Benfica, but we are much bigger and are debt free, telling then to FO should be easy.
  11. I can't wait for Tuesday, February 1st 2011 when I can put all this Torres to Chelsea talk aside at least for another 4 months.
  12. Personally i'm not that concerned. If none of us can think of anyone that can suitably replace FT in this window, I think Kenny, Commoli and gang are probably thinking that way too.
  13. Why would Commoli be working hard ? He's in charge of transfers coming in not going out, rite?
  14. yeah, no way they would go from 35 to 60. Come what may, I am 99% sure Torres is still a Liverpool player on February 1st 2011.
  15. Torres won't be sold in this transfer window no matter what Chelsea's increased bid is, or even if they do make one. I think the club and Kenny know that it would be a bad decision. He wants to go, that's fine with me BUT only at the end of this season. He is not the same player we had in his first season with us, where he scored 33 goals or even his second season. He does not have the same energy levels or hunger he once had and also taking into account the many hamstring, knee and ankle injuries he has suffered. The injuries, broken promises by the previous hierarchy, loss of form and confidence....I think it would be good for us and for him if he leaves the club but only at the end of the season. I would not sell for anything less than 45m though. But who will be our new No. 9 then ? Maybe Carroll, or Llorente or Kiesling. Can't think of anyone other than these 3 at the moment.
  16. At the end of the day, we shouldn't keep an unhappy player. Torres wants to go...so we should sell him for the best price we can get. But only in the summer. His contract expires on June 20th, 2013 so we have time on our side. Torres has not looked like Torres for the last season and a half. He is an emotive person and has rightly been disillusioned by all those broken promises by past owners and our very poor form. Fans can blame Torres for all they want but he is human after all, if he doesn't see himself winning things here then that's fair, he goes. But it needs to be explained to him that we can't go and find a replacement of similar quality in 3 days. He needs to wait until the end of the season before he gets his move. It is smart of LFC to wait until the summer anyway as Real Madrid or Inter might also be interested. We can sell him to the highest bidder. Kenny and his coaching staff have until June to think about the right replacement for Torres, a new number 9. I can't think of anyone right now.
  17. Lucas, Gerrard, Meireles, Maxi, Torres and Suarez - that's 6 good football players. Hope to see a lot of good football and a lot more goals scored in our remaining 14 league games.
  18. I don't believe in the Torres rumours for 1 second. He won't leave in this transfer window.
  19. Yay, always confident this was gonna happen. Hope he gets No. 7 or No. 11.
  20. I think respect has to be given to Fulham. We were never going to whack them or see a 3-0 or 4-0 scoreline against them. I had predicted 1-0 and it would have been 2-0 had the Torres been correctly judged. Fulham are a good solid organized team and no HOME team has even scored more than 2 goals against them in the league this season. But a win is a win .... gotta look forward to Stoke now. Now that is a team we can beat by 3-0.
  21. Dirk has had an average season like all our other key players. The time to judge is at the end of the season not now. Everyone needs to focus on doing the best they can for the next 14 BPL games and making sure we get some pride back into the name Liverpool Football Club and ensuring we finish as high as possible. That is priority No. 1. An added bonus is winning the Europa League which is something we are very capable of doing as well.
  22. That is because I believe it is going to happen.
  23. This could be a very difficult game for us. If we get an early goal then great but I'll settle for 1-0. No home team has scored more than 2 goals against Fulham yet this season.
  24. Don't think we're gonna sign Charlie Adam...certainly not in this window.
  25. That is true, Suarez signing is more of a statement of intent than Adam signing. That's why it will happen...probably within the next 48 hours.
