Angry Rafa demands FIFA compensation Jun 9 2006 By Chris Bascombe, Liverpool Echo RAFA Benitez today vigorously supported the G14's demand for FIFAtocompensate clubs who lose millions when their players are injured playing for their country. Liverpool have lost a potential £8m due to the injury to Djibril Cisse, with the knock-on effect seriously impacting on Benitez's transfer plans this summer. Benitez maintains the current system is flawed, and the vast wealth accumulated by FIFA should be used to repay clubs who lose their most valuable assets on international duty. "When I spoke at the UEFA coaches meeting last season, this was one of the important issues I raised," said Benitez today. "In this situation, we have a player who has cost Liverpool a lot of money injured preparing for a World Cup. Now we have to face the cost. There are wages to pay and also we can't sell the player. "It's clear there is a problem with the rules. As a club, not only have we lost a player we have lost big money. "I believe FIFA or the national associations should pay the clubs in these situations. "FIFA is a very wealthy organ-isation and they makealot of money from the World Cup. They should insure the value of the players they want to participate. "If they're not prepared to pay for this, okay, maybe the clubs should say the players can't play. "If a team loses one of its most important players, it can make a big difference to their season and determine if they compete forthe title or fight against relegation. "I know there are some associations whoare less wealthy, particularly among the African nations, but in those situations FIFA should help because they make a lot of money, particularly during a World Cup. "I know Liverpool has suffered a lot because of the rules. This time it's Cisse, but last year we had a problem with Milan Baros when he was injured playing for the Czechs." Two high-profile court cases could force FIFAto change their rules. The most advanced involves Charleroi player Abdelmadjid Oulmers, who was unable to play forhis club after injuring himself representing Morocco. Backed by the G14, his club took legal action and last Maythe case against FIFA was referred to the European Court of Justice. Should FIFA lose, rules obliging clubs to release players for international duty, preventing clubs from demanding any form of financial reward in return for release and demanding clubs be bound by FIFA's international calendar face extinction. Federations would also be forced to provide insurance cover. Under current rules, the FA will insure English players from the Premiership against injury on international duty, but that doesn't apply to overseas players or associations. Liverpool won't receive a penny in wages or insurance for the duration of Cisse's rehabilitation. Cisse's bad luck has, at least, prolonged a Liverpool career which was on the verge of ending two years after his £14m transfer. "He has had unbelievable bad luck," reflected Benitez. "To suffer the same injury twice is really unlucky for him, buthe made a fantastic recovery last time and I'm sure he can do the same again." Club doctor Mark Waller also revealed the latest injury isn't as bad as that suffered in Blackburn 18 months ago. "The latest news we've had is extremely positive. He's had the operation done and everything has gone in a very straightforward fashion," said Waller.

LFC should play 4-4-2 next season if we get the wingers we're searching for. that's why didi decides to go away. and with one year left on his contract that's the best moment to sell him. but it's so sad to see him go.

Hamann poised for Bolton switch Jun 9 2006 By Chris Bascombe, Liverpool Echo DIDI HAMANN is on the brink of leaving Anfield after Liverpool agreed a deal with Bolton. The Liverpool midfielder - an inspiration during a glorious seven year career -has been given permission to hold talks with Sam Allardyce. However, the player still hasn't decided to join the Lancashire side and must agree a personal terms and complete a medical. Hamann has returned Germany to watch his country's opening game in the World Cup and will make a decision over the weekend. Following a meeting with manager Rafa Benitez, it's become clear the German's chances of first team football would be limited this season. Hamann triggered a one-year extension to his Liverpool deal during the course of the last campaign, and originally intended to remain on Merseyside. But the emergence of Momo Sissoko, and return of Steven Gerrard to his favoured central midfield role next season, means Hamann will have fewer opportunities to feature. His departure would bring an end to a hugely successful Anfield career, during which time Hamann won every major honour apart from the Premiership. After signing for £7m from Newcastle in 1999, he was a key member of the cup treble winning side of 2001, and more famously helped transformthe Champions League final as a second half substitute. The 32-year-old played a similar role in the recent FA Cup success. His presence in the dressing room will also undoubtedly be missed, but Benitezwill feel it's in the best interests of the club and player to move on. Should Hamann agree terms with Allardyce, he's sure to leave Merseyside with tremendous appreciation following his sterling contribution. The deal is likely to be initially free, with the Reds receiving up to £500,000 if Hamann makes a certain number of Premiership appearances.

http://www.lfchistory.net/player_profile.asp?player_id=719 Birthdate: 02.10.1887 Birthplace: Halliwell, Bolton, England Other clubs: Bolton Wanderers, Clapton Orient Bought from: Clapton Orient Signed for LFC: £N/A 09.06.1910 International debut: 10.04.1920 vs. Scotland International caps: 5/1 Liverpool debut: 19.09.1910 Contract expiry: 1928 LFC league games/goals: 342 / 0 Total LFC games/goals: 371 / 0 Player Notes: Ephraim was one of the most consistent defenders Liverpool have ever had on their books and his career at Anfield from start to finish covered a remarkable 18 years. Had the First World War not taken away so much of his professional career, he would certainly have played in over 500 Football league and FA cup matches for the club he served so loyally for so long. He made his name at Bolton and after 4 years at Burnden Park was transferred to Liverpool at the start of the 1910-11 season, during which he made the first 34 of his 371 first-team appearances for the club. One of only a handful of Liverpool players to ever captain his country, Ephraim's composed style of play meant that his position at right-back was rarely threatened during his early years on Merseyside. He played in the FA cup final against Burnley in 1914 and would continue to be a key member of the team for several seasons after the war, winning League championship medals in both 1922 & 1923. Longworth played for England five times but remarkably, considering the number of matches he played, he never scored a single goal for Liverpool during his lengthy association with the club! Ephraim's final selection for a Liverpool first-team, at Birmingham on 21st April 1928, came over SEVENTEEN and a half years after he had been handed his debut in an away match at Bramall Lane, Sheffield on 19th September 1910.

PELE: GERRARD WOULD GRACE BRAZIL TEAM Steve Hunter 07 June 2006 http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...060607-0914.htm Football icon Pele has hailed the world-class talents of Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and believes he would grace the Brazil national team. Pele is a big admirer of the Reds midfield dynamo and feels he would fit into any team. "Brazil is not a defensively-minded team and Gerrard is always going forward and he would play in my team, no doubt," enthused Pele. "Gerrard is an excellent player, absolutely world-class. If I was a manager, everywhere I went I would buy Steven Gerrard. "He is what Brazil needs, because he is always looking forward and has a big heart. "Two years ago I saw Gerrard play and then I saw him in Tokyo in a game against Sao Paulo. I said then that Gerrard is a great player. To me he is one of the best midfielders in the world. He is an excellent player."

the "academy française". it's an academy of famous french artists.they're all very old and lovers of the french language. each year, they gather to discuss which names are gonna be introduced in the french language. for example ,one year, they had to discuss which name was gonna be given to someone who loves wearing lapelbadges just like the famous kopite. they decided that the word would be "un philopin".
-
yes it's always "bon anniversaire" because you say "un" anniversaire ,not "une" anniversaire.

incredible match. maxime bossis, french CB said it was tough to play, the ball hardly went out of the pitch, there were very few fouls. one of the best matches i've ever seen. it's a legendary game here in france.just like engalnd-brazil in 1970 seems to be in england. i think the best match i've watched was romania-argentina in the 1994 world cup finals. absolutely superb.
