  3. Just searched for the tournament, we won, although I can't find the score against Tigres in the final. We scored 21 goals in our first 3 games though, so it seems like most teams were a bit out of their depth against us. Though this, from the Dallas Cup blog was a bit odd: "Really, there were too many strong performances to mention as the the Bosnian side was out of its element from the start. Maybe the Reds were inspired by Tommy Hicks' appearance to kick out the ceremonial first ball. (Tommy Hicks, of course, is the son of Tom Hicks, whose holdings include the Rangers, the Stars and Liverpool FC.)"

  8. Well if we had a deal with a club in another country where the prospects could gain citizenship (like ManU do with Antwerp) it would work. That said, I'm sure in a situation like this we'd still have a hard time convincing players to sign for us rather than head to Spain. "Sign for us, we'll shift you to Belgium for 3 years, and then make you uproot all over again and spend some time proving yourself with the reserves over in Warrington." or "We're Real Madrid."
  9. Fair point. You'd think the University of Texas could give us a couple of million though. $252 million has been invested in funds associated with Hicks ever since he was made chairman of the $13 billion endowment.
  10. Where did that Durango quote come from? What forum?
  11. back-pass rule came into effect in 92
  12. Well then head it to him. That's allowed isn't it?] Edit From Fifa: An indirect free kick is awarded to the opposing team if a goalkeeper, inside his own penalty area, commits any of the following four offences: • takes more than six seconds while controlling the ball with his hands before releasing it from his possession • touches the ball again with his hands after it has been released from his possession and has not touched any other player • touches the ball with his hands after it has been deliberately kicked to him by a team-mate • touches the ball with his hands after he has received it directly from a throw-in taken by a team-mate Kicked, the knee isn't kicked.

I'm sorry, I'm from Barcelona. I liike the signature.
  14. How do you get it to your keeper? Juggle it up and pass it to him with your knee?

Do you google the site for references to him?
  16. It's encouraged (required? copyright laws and that) to give credit to the source for any article you link to/quote. Personally think Parry's more incompetent than sinister, still see him as culpable though.
  17. Hicks is a neo-con buddy of Bush, implicated in some money laundering scandal involving the Carlyle Group. He may not be the head of any regime, but isn't he therefore involved in brutal suppression, and so on?
  18. No, as he's still on loan. I was hoping they would try and buy him outright during this window before the game so that they would be able to play him.

    Hicks:

And it's not like he even put down the cash to allow us to buy the Babel Tower. He just went ahead and put it against the club, like he did with er... the club.
  22. In some sort of ideal world where we don't have many other pressing issues in different positions, sure I'd agree with you. I could go all hyperbolic and say he's a force of nature, or I could just leave it at he's very good at what he was does, and has been asked to do some varied things.
  23. What? Over Ronaldo, Drogba, Bramble, Tevez, Berbatov, etc.?

    Voronin

Crouch or Voronin? Not trying to insinuate this is my opinion of Crouch, just you didn't quote anyone and it comes right after someone asking why people want Crouch out.
