Chain reaction: Ferguson -> Glazer
aka Dus replied to aka Dus's topic in General Football Discussion
What makes me laugh is why all these FCUM founders and general fat mouthed ba5tards were in the 90s when United were lording it on the field and coining it off the field. Running the club democratically didn't matter a fook then. They exchanged one dictator for another and for some reason didn't like the one coming in. Merely because of the club entering debt? Xenophobia? Hypocrisy? Like I said, it's all very sniggersome. -
I heard this about a fortnight ago but thought it was crazy talk. It was suggested that he would be part of a deal to send Drogba back. But now that he's announced he's leaving Marseilles, maybe it wasn't so crazy, and is just plain mental.

On Chain Reaction on RTE2 in Ireland last night they posited the following; Ferguson meets Magnier at Epsom and they hit it off as Fergie is getting the bug for the fillies. The insinuation is made that Ferguson likes to mix with the upper classes and talk about fine wines etc. Magnier proposes Ferguson to give some keynote speech at a breeder's dinner. The toffs will have none of it (shipbuilder's son/Scottish etc.) and Magnier decides to give Ferguson a share of his horse so Fergie can't be excluded again. ->-> Rock of Gibraltar performs beyond all expectations. At this point the programme says Ferguson got dollar signs in his eyes and sends a letter to Coolmore asking when he can start expecting his stud fees. He's told that no such agreement exists and the situation deteriorates to the point of Ferguson suing. ->->Magnier considers it ungentlemanly and vulgar to involve the courts but is just as stubborn as Fergie. Cubic Expression increase their shareholding as part of a strategy to pressure Fergie's bosses to get him to drop the case. They then send a list of 99 questions to the board asking how the club is run etc. ->->The fan protests at some racing festival force the 2 sides to settle (Fergie gets £2.5m). End of story? No. ->->The furore attracted the interest of the Glazers who heretofore had not had an interest in the PLC. A large shareholder pissed off at a global brand? Hmmm. ->->Cubic's increased holding allowed the Glazers to negotiate first with them and settle a deal before going to the rest of the shareholders in an invincible position. ->->A few years later and United are in debt to the tune of £500-700m after being in the black for the enitire Prem era. ->->Bottom line, the programme says, if Fergie had kept his greedy mouth shut or even just not gone to court, Cubic would never have increased their holdings and rattled the board, United would never have been on the Glazer radar, and there wouldn't have been a massive block of shares there to be negotiated for to leverage a buy out. If you made it this far, congratulations. (The programme had pictures and that though.) I thought it was funny and tied in beautifully with what so many of us on here were saying at the time and what so many of our guest Manchester United dans were denying.

He'll scre 15 goals in the Swedish League after the WC break. His mind's ot for turning, though the state HIF are in after sacking their manager might make him wish he'd stalled on. He's got a big house built near Helsinborg and I think going home is as much for his family as anything else. In any event, he only ever played one season for Helsingborgs. Högeborgs is his real home town club and where he started. The kind of guy he is he could easily drop down to the 2nd Division to play with them in his last year.

I thought Barca were becoming desperate when they scored. Had been thinking to myself that Arsenal wouldn't concede. Haven't seen Ronaldonho play so poorly. Fair play to Rijkaard for commiting to attacking substitutions while only 1 down. And Larsson's introduction paid off. Haven't heard Henry's reaction but they have no real grounds for complaint that way.
-
Henke can come home to Sweden now with his two medals, bowing out at the pinnacle. And did Celtic an unreally appropriate favour.
-
What did they do with the stupid amount of cash they got for Cissé? Serious question.

As it should be. Has played well and had an obvious galvanising effect on the team - old friends and new alike. Rafa is no fool.

Ballack to be Unveiled at Chel$ki tomorrow
aka Dus replied to a topic in General Football Discussion
It would probably be easier for all concerned if Abramovich just put in a ?250m bid for the European Cup. He'd get to keep it for a year and would probably be happy with that. It would save him money in the long run. Ballack was given Gallas' number 13 jersey. Seems like the Translator is going to let him stay in the reserves until his contract is up. If it was any other club Gallas would have already been cashed in, then player and his agent would have been happy. Which is great news really as the more they treat players like s*** (SWP), the more they will get a reputation as the place NOT to go if you want to further your career & enjoy your football. They are in danger of only attracting mercenaries who will do whatever the boss wants just as long as they pick up their 100k per week. Good luck to them. -
Juventus' massive corruption is at a scale relative to other clubs' massive corruption in a proportion similar to their financial/political clout versus other clubs' financial/political clout. (Or - "The whole shebang is in a state of Chasis") Discuss.

I quite liked them throwing a burning vespa off the Curva Sud, actually. Not something you see everyday. And their banner for the Milan derby was small time but delightful. I quite like Milan but I love to see the bitterness on full display. (When I don't really give a feck either way.)

Can't be waiting around forever for either of them to turn into the players they could have been for us, IMO. Shame because I thought he would have suited us perfectly.

You'd think Parry would have organised a few suspensions in his time if he was any good at his job, wouldn't you?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/4770193.stm G14 'happy' as key case referred The G14 group of leading football clubs say they are "very happy" a landmark court case has been referred to the European Court of Justice. A Belgian court referred the case against Fifa, brought by Belgian club Charleroi with the backing of G14, to Europe's highest court in Luxembourg. The case concerns Charleroi player Abdelmajid Oulmers who was injured while playing for Morocco in 2004. G14 clubs want compensation when their players are injured in internationals. Oulmers was sidelined for eight months after suffering his injury in Morocco's game against Burkina Faso in November 2004. Charleroi say the loss of the player hindered their chances of success in the Belgian league and cup. Fifa maintained there is no link between the injury of Oulmers and Charleroi's fifth-placed finish in the league. G14 general manager Thomas Kurth said: "Fifa's argument was that its rules were not in any way subject to EU law. "But we asked for a ruling at the European Court of Justice on these rules, which we've always said are unfair to every club, not just G14 members." The G14 has already joined Olympique Lyon in a similar action over defender Eric Abidal, who broke his foot during a France friendly. Clubs pay the wages of players, which can exceed £100,000 a week for the top performers. Jean-Phillipe Lebeau, president of the commercial tribunal in Charleroi, said: "The European Court of Justice is the only court that can sufficiently decide this case, taking everything into account." The last major case in football to be referred to the European Union's highest court also started in Belgium. The 'Bosman' ruling, after a case brought by player Jean-Marc Bosman, gave players the choice to move freely between clubs when out of contract, thereby increasing player power.

As I understand it, not too many boo or brick the telly when Trevor Steven comes on.

No, sammya, the hype over Rooney after 1 FA Cup and probably 4/5 good performances in "big" games is what's ridiculous. Nobody will say that Rooney isnt a good player. But for many reds to be claiming he's a better player than Gerrard is even more ridiculous.

Yeah but what about the koptalk news bulletin....?
