  1. F****** A. Starting Sunday, stick together and we'll be fine - seem to remember it's called YNWA. Get behind Rafa & the team, they've c*cked up a bit this season but 3 points v a*** to follow last week's result will/ought/should change our mindset. We are nowhere near as bad as some of our performances recently suggest and can click into form just as easily as we fell out of it.
  2. If Ferguson had the choice of buying Gerrard or Tevez who do you reckon he would go for? But if you mean Tevez instead of any of our other forward players except Torres that's about right.
  3. Familiarity. Confidence in team-mates. SG is our best centre midfielder, he just tries too hard and others need to take responsibility.
  4. Having now had the chance to read all 56 pages, the answer is : who cares, we f***in beat the bluesh*te on their own wooden patch in front of their rabid dogs and doesn't it feel great la. Alonso back, Torres should be fit for Sunday, Agger back training, even Kewell & Aurelio set for their latest comebacks for the reserves this week. Ain't life grand
  5. Exactly. He made similar comments about how well Morientes was playing then sold him at the end of that season.
  6. You need a strong manager to take tough decisions and my god, have we got one. On Gerrard, the one real flaw in his game is his impatience. He is so desperate to show his creative side that he overdoes the killer balls, the long passes, the quick forward moves. You could see that in the England game v Russia, they needed to keep the ball, frustrate the fans & the opposition players, tire them out and pick them off. But Stevie and the other midfielders squandered possession and it cost them the game. On Saturday, with 11 v 10 we needed to move them around, tire them out, push them deeper into defending their penalty area. Lucas did this brilliantly but it's not Gerrard's game to play square balls, especially in a derby and Rafa knew this. The manager was proved right by events, we took 3 points in another tough away game, Stevie will be super-charged for the next couple of big, big games, the bluesh*te just got an even bigger chip on their shoulders - I for one am well happy.
  7. Injuries round-up http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...071016-1433.htm Kuyt & Torres to start, Alonso on the bench and Agger/Kewell back for Arsenal. Hopefully

  10. If we are to replace Crouch & Riise (it's reached the stage where it's more than just speculation) and are bringing in 3 or 4 new players I would prefer to see us scouting those available in the premiership than alternatives from a foreign league. I'm thinking of Owen & Steven Taylor both of whom have fallen out with Allardyce and have escape clauses/short contracts as opposed to Alves & Mendy. Would probably cost less and have no problems integrating into the squad or the premiership.

  14. It's always great fun to see us linked with lots of continental players in the transfer market but the concern is that we may yet again struggle to "gel" . If we had a settled pattern of play so you drop one player out of the system and slot the new lad in, then maybe no problem but we are not like that. I know nothing about alves (christ I wish it was the other one) but I would have thought a centreback is the priority not a right back and I can't recall Mendy pulling up any trees at Bolton. Mancini was utter gash v mancs the other week.

  19. With the personnel at our disposal (and having seen how badly we have missed Xabi Alonso) I'm starting to believe we would be a better side with this formation. Don't agree about Kuyt on the right, though.
  20. Allardyce is going a very funny way about keeping his "best" player. He was highlighting his exit fee all summer and now seems intent on using Owen to make himself popular with the Newcastle fans. I think he wants to get shot of Michael and a swap would suit Allardyce, Owen & Crouch. Only problem is Rafa!!
  21. That'll be the wino Alan Brazil or his idiot sidekick Moose putting 2 & 2 together because their big story this morning is the club v country row between Michael & Fat Sam

    Torres

Riise was really poor on Sunday and has been most of the season. He also started last season out of sorts despite his brilliant goal v Chelsea in the Community Shield. It's funny how so many people hate him and usually add, "if it wasn't for the occasional screamer...blah blah". That's like Fat Sam saying Rafa would have been sacked if it wasn't for winning the Champions League, Super Cup, FA Cup, 2 Youth Cups, coming 2nd & 3rd in the Premiership and reaching the Champions League Final last year. As said by one poster, he has scored some of the most important goals ever for this club and least we forget, his cross to Stevie G started off the miracle in Istanbul. I think he is the sort who does suffer from rotation (or not being selected). He is naturally fit & athletic with a good engine so played regularly he bombs up & down the line to good effect and his defending is far better than some give him credit for. His problem is he is so glaringly one-footed and as a result there is no craft in his passing - he either knocks it back or sideways or sends it long and even though his long passing is pretty accurate, nonetheless he doesn't please the purists. Arbeloa is doing a decent job but I'm not sure he's the answer & Aurelio is never fit. If Riise leaves he will do a good job somewhere else but we may find it difficult to replace all aspects of his game.
