  1. that's not the 50m Rafa mentioned .....
  2. Sung by an Afro wearing Michael J
  3. So Rafa's finally got his "Alves" - now a back up striker/LW and no one we want to keep leaving ... looking forward to the new season
  4. GloJo - so 80's American Afro Sprinter
  5. Don't actually KNOW anything about this person, but I've read he's an attacking midfielder in the mould of Cesc Fabregas ... don't know how true that is
  6. La Liga will be the top league in Europe - and will soon have the best talent in Europe as their tax laws will allow the top 3 clubs or so to pay their players more
  7. where are the YouTube clips? I wanna know if he's an attacking midfielder or a defensive one.... hold on it's Rafa, bound to be a defensive midfielder
  8. rumor is vidic's wife doesn't like manchester and he'd like Barcelona to make an offer so he can go there
  9. whether you're a football player or not an Aston Martin is still expensive and people have an aversion to loss. The increased tax will remind our Foreign stars what they're missing out on money wise and we'll find it harder to recruit them and we'll have to pay more to keep them (salary). Teams that can cope with this are Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City - Arsenal can only cope as they sign younger players, they'll lose their better ones sooner with this new plan. We, sadly will miss out. British talent will cost more but will be available as they'll be less likely to move abroad ( who was the last british player to be successful abroad? and how often does that happen? ). But as we know British player ( in general) aren't that good. I think we're about to see the rise of La Liga as the best league in the world
  10. I thought it was 3 years for both
  11. David Moores quits from Liverpool board after being 'heartbroken and let down' by American owners http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/200...15875-21452230/
  12. Not popular then ? guess buying Kuyt doesn't save him... He'll be remembered as the guy who sold the club to Hicks and Gillette when DIC were available
  13. is this johnson thing true? - can't believe we're paying so much for a full back that lacks concentration
  14. S R N A
  15. I think that is the truth, we effectively said he'd have to displace Xabi or Mash on merit and he didn't have the bottle to try... especially in a WC year ( where England will go out in the QF's) Reminds me so much of Owen does that
  16. He's going to have to do that for both Mash and Xabi next season anyway
  17. Tuncay as a LHS Kuyt ? Don't forget Distin for CH
  18. This is how conspiracy theories start. Most likely it's the anti liverpool elements in the press worrying that we're finally challengers and trying to destabilize us.
  19. I'd say that was likely. If I were Rafa I wouldn't be coming out saying I have enough money for transfers (Unless I'd already done the transfers!). Sure some people say the message is to calm the fans, but the fans typically don't add 2-3m on a transfer or insist on cash upfront. My instinct says Rafa's sorted out who he wants and he thinks he's got them. So he's waiting for something ... transfer window to open, certain cups to be over, players to be sold ...
  20. Both Paul Ince and John Barnes moved up the management tree too fast and got to good appointments too soon. It's taken John a long time to get another decent start. Let's hope he does well there. Maybe it will be an opportunity for our academy/youth players to move to tranmere on loan for more regular football ?
  21. The wording is interesting in this http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/ju...zequiel-lavezzi
  22. Most teams figure the way to stop us playing is to stop xabi, hence all those red cards for players trying to stop xabi - that's not a problem if xabi can avoid their lunges, sometimes ( Lampard) their lunges get through and we'd be without Xabi, who'd be able to share the play making burden then? The other way teams try to stop us is by putting a man on gerrard, eg Essien in the CL game. That amounts to 2 layers (attack and midfield ) with a dedicated man marker against our players - to maintain consistency for next season we need a way of being able to play as effectively without Torres, Gerrard and Xabi .... we don't currently have that IMO. However having someone else (wherever they are) - that can ping a good ball around and pick out players changes that dynamic making us harder to stop and more consistent without our marquee players
  23. Srna has the ability to be a play maker which may cause the opposition to think twice about just trying to mark Xabi out of a game

    Babel

Thing is we had a choice between Malouda and Babel. Malouda took the Russian's money, Babel wanted the challenge. It turns out neither' been exceptional clearly indicating that we lack either the funds to get the best players in, or our selection method is broken
  25. would prefer Srna to Johnson, especially at 15m
