We have said the squad was short on numbers for about 5 years, the f***ers have come home to roost now so much so that it would be cheaper to just buy a club, take all their players and shut their doors.

It’s getting toxic across the fanbase and whilst I previously thought he would be mutually consented in the summer, I’m not convinced he’ll see out the week.

That’s the rub, it’s the opposition he faced last year and this. If i am duelling against my granny I am winning, if I am duelling against some midfield brute with PL experience then I’m duelling my way into A&E.

There are a few (more than a few) teams in that league not worth talking about in terms of competitive edge, he is facing teams in the PL that are night and day compared to what he was up against last season - this is what’s giving people cause for concern along with the issues you’ve mentioned. Okay the entire squad he is part of is not fit so he gets a pass cos the manager can’t use him (or maybe the league is too physical) and maybe he will kick on under a new manager but the jury is out and apart from one mini purple patch in which he scored a few goals he has been underwhelming in his performances thus far and frankly shown little to suggest he is a one hundred million pound player.

I suppose he could always opt to tighten midfield and control that area of the pitch and look for an alternative to the surrendering-the-middle-ground ways we’ve been using. Becoming hard to score against might be a foundation for something fruitful. Or we could just do 45 minutes of Isak followed by 45 minutes of someone else like you’d do a Sunday morning down the park. Like the amateur not-so-serious-at-all teams do.

And we got off lightly in both.

CL/No CL is the biggie, I think one of the players you’ve listed would be a big loss, the others not much.

I wouldn’t rely on any speculative diagnosis, currently he’s likely to have a lot of swelling in the ankle area that will need to subside before a scan can ascertain what exactly the issue is.

Wirtz looks like how you would imagine a 15 year old playing against brutes in league two, timid, lacking strength in body, in passing, in shooting. If the new manager doesn’t get him really going by the end of the year it’s going to be a real concern, and I temper that given to lack of conditioning the entire squad seems to have.
