  1. with jumpers for goalposts and half time oranges
  2. beyond the obvious, paul walsh and jan molby, players for the romantics gutted that the lfc 501 goals dvd i have criminally includes walters and not walsh!
  3. i know! maybe this is why the papers often say "unconfirmed" normally two parallel threads develop: who we think rafa will pick/who we would pick
  4. irony, chaps. i didn't expect anyone to take it seriously...
  5. any further light you can shed? cant be due to arrest given he played on Sunday. a fall-out? well then it'd have to be Mori up front and ?garcia if fit or warnock on bench (to allow us to play Riise in midfield)
  6. tough one to call as there's bound to be a few rested. i'm going for Reina Finnan Carra Agger Riise Gerrard Hamann Alonso Kewell Crouch Cisse Subs Carson Hyppia Sissoko Morientes Fowler
  7. one point that seems little appreciated is that history shows there are simply less right wingers than left wingers in the true sense. I suspect a geneaology (sp?) expert could provide an interesting thesis on flair in the left-hand/footer. and before anyone says it, djimi and the babbster would be the exceptions which prove the rule!
  8. the forgotten man is Foy still ours, on loan?
  9. sami and carra hoofing over djimi goofing any day hoofing also may be the result of the team as a whole being under pressure defending a lead on a crap pitch in crap weather conditions. i dont think we were in a position to go hansen-esque.
  10. 1. Chelsea v LFC 2. LFC v Chelsea 3. Man U v LFC 4. ?Bolton v LFC?/ LFC v Man U it's up there, but not quite the worst.
  11. reports from sky are more promising: wages is holding up Victor's proposed move from Deportivo La Coruna to Liverpool. Liverpool and Depor have already agreed a deal for the 29-year-old with The Reds having drawn up a three-and-a-half year contract for the Spaniard. He is scheduled to fly to England on Monday afternoon to undertake a medical ahead of signing on Tuesday, but is currently at loggerheads with Depor over his package to leave the Primera outfit. The former Real Madrid man insists Depor are pressuring him to give up a portion of his wages to complete his switch to Anfield. Understandably, the midfielder is far from happy with the situation and has hit out at his employers for trying to take advantage of him. "What I won't have is them trying to take advantage of me with the settlement payment," he told Voz de Galicia. "What's more they are only small amounts, monthly payments of my image rights and other small things. "I won't let them manipulate me, it's a question of principals." The player is to meet Depor president Augusto Cesar Lendoiro on Monday morning to try and iron out the problems and should still complete his move to England before the deadline. Indeed, he insists Depor have made it clear they are looking for him to depart having not opened talks over a contract extension. "It's clear that they would prefer me to leave because they have not called me about a new contract," he added. However, this is not the first time an outgoing player has complained at Depor's conduct ahead of a transfer from the club and Victor seems determined to hold out for what he is owed.
  12. we wanted sun jihai for far east shirt sales revenue, but couldnt get him so bought fowler instead
  13. not at all. i think it's a difficult issue for any of us but i totally understand its very hard for people who have been affected by it before.
  14. fair dos mate - i'm not knocking anyone individually, just trying to put another perspective on the limited facts as we know them
  15. i might be wrong, but I don't understand the issue about him ACCEPTING the caution. Fact is he has been cautioned. There's no acceptance issue. It's not as though anyone in their right mind would say, "warn me as much as you want, I'm not listening, I'm innocent, you'll have to prosecute me", and the police would then pass the file to the CPS. I'll play devil's advocate now. Granted, all this is ugly, but he remains our player, it seems his missus is not pressing charges, and if she can forgive maybe we should as well. It might for all we know be very minor injury, and we know nothing of what happened. Any bloke harming his wife can expect flak, but should it be proportionate? Another way of looking at it: if it had been an infidelity, and she'd dumped him, would we be reacting in the same way? One other thing: just wondering, would anyone's reaction to this news have been different if Djibril had been a 2 goal hero of a victory last weekend?
  16. i was in the main stand one new year's day back in 1989 or some time like then when barnesy scored and then they came back and beat us 3-1. i had big mancs hugging me and saying things like "isnt this the best christmas present of the lot eh?" if you win, its probably ok. you get the lovely satisfaction of them crying around you. if you lose, to them, and hear them all rejoicing around you, its a bit like a few hours after eating uncooked chicken which had been sitting in heatwave sun for a few hours
  17. anyway, how about a nice rocket against United to celebrate eh johnny
  18. this is quite interesting, as there was a report not so long ago that he was getting a pay increase but not a contract extension, with a dodgy quote from parry saying you don't always have to extend contracts to show a player is appreciated - dodgy as i think at the time riise was well into his last 2 years. anyone else like me feel that raffa felt the jury was still out on rockets, but has now changed his mind, and is chosing rockets as his main LB for the future?
  19. there's no way we'll play 4-5-1 IMHO as our great run has at all times involved 2 strikers, no need to change now. wouldn't it be a good confidence booster to keep to our successful formula rather than adapt for man yoo not only have united got a weak midfield, but their defence will have to includeb2 out of silvestre and 2 premiership debutants, or some even greater c@ck. what we need is good old benitez high-pressure football to overwhelm them, test their left back and put pressure on rio and whoever's with him, and make the appearance of rooney and van nistelrooy an irrelevance. i'd be very surprised if our team is not our top xi ie reina finnan carra sami riise gerrard alonso sissoko kewell mori crouch. Subs i suppose are Carson, Cisse, Flo-Po, Kronkamp, Agger/Warnock
  20. From Sky Sports The Frenchman has denied he is returning to The Premiership this month and insists he will never wear the blue of Liverpool's local rivals following his short spell at Anfield. Newcastle United have also been linked with a bid for the ex-Arsenal attacker but he has already stressed he will remain in Istanbul for the time being. "Having played at Liverpool, it is absolutely impossible I could go to Everton," he told L'Equipe. "Above all, with what is happening at the moment. "I won't join a smaller club than Fenerbahce. "It would be nice if Everton people would stop dreaming about my arrival because I will never go there. "I repeat it - I have worn the Liverpool shirt and I will never wear the Everton one. "Until the end of the season, I stay at Fenerbahce. "I am perfectly fine here. The newspapers made me say I absolutely wanted to leave Turkey to go and play at Newcastle or Everton. "The problem is I absolutely never talk to the English press! "The last interview I gave was in L'Equipe [on January 3]."
  21. Gerrard demands Henry swoop
  22. "Espanyol have told skysports.com that they have had no contact with Liverpool over striking starlet Jonathan Soriano. Jonathan - as he is known in Spain - is an Under-21 international and is rated very highly." Do they understand the concept of nicknames in Spain?
  23. cheers - doesnt sound like an imminent return. think that was last week wasnt it
  24. 1. Rafa wants a right winger/midfielder. 2. Simao is no 1 target. Any move in doubt as Benfica holding out at moment for large wonga and claiming Chelski interested. 3. Walcott also likely to be high-level target for the £ allocated here, even if he plays more CF/LW. Probably he's heading up the @rse. 4. Order of other linked targets unclear. 5. Other linked targets are Diana, Galletti, Srna, that-brazilian-new-cafu, Pennant...? 6. Whether we would actually buy these (now) is unclear. May depend on who Rafa thinks he can get in the summer. However, number of fixtures suggests he would be keen to reinforce, particularly given strong links to guys of arguable quality (stelios, solano) in the Summer. 7. It's all gone quiet, but the search is not over for january yet, just feels like we're in a key moment of a poker game. Am I missing anything?
