A few years ago I'd agree with you but the thing is if we currently want to win the league then these games are must wins now unless Chelsea play about 20% worse all season.

I agree we still have Ged's great cup competition attitude. If we could harness it in the league...

Unless Chelsea ManU and the a*** drop points then today will be a real downer. It was a really tough game alright but as the cliche goes we really need to be bagging points in these kind of games to stand any chance at all of winning the league. Sitting two points off Chelsea by the end of the day would be a bad bad start alright. Lets hope everyone else is a bit leggy today.

Great point. For years we needed to fatten the squad each summer and had to spread the funds around. If that squad above do a great job this season then rafa can start making minor adjustments by adding one or two class players each window.

Gerrard can be more consistantly effective down the right than Joaquin can.

Happy with what we have too.

But that's the whole point. If Harry plays no part all season we have Gonzalez and Aurelio to fill in. Even Riise and Zendon can do that job as well as Garcia. We have brilliant cover if needed as well as to keep the big players fresh. It's no longer a second string just another cog in the wheel.

Torres and Ballack for starters. Two players who would walk straight into their team. I know they were after a host of other midfielders all of which hasn't happened.

Funny how he's turned so many people. He used to be the one player that really divided fans now most stick up for him!

Seriously though, we might feel we currently have the edge on them (I do anyway) and to the outside world the Liverpool V Chelsea grudge matches have helped us no end I feel ,but ManU are still up their beating us in the league last season with Giggs and OShea in CM positions. So many players have turned them down this season. Anyone got any ideas? Is it just the cycle of football? Are manU precieved as a club on the slide? Not as fashionable as a few years ago? P.S. It's great though! P.P.S They will probably sign 5 world class players tomorrow!

Maybe we could bring him on late against Chelsea and ManU to injure players! Sit out his suspension in time for the next game.

I thought we had a really great squad under Ged and for the most part we pretty much did but this squad including all the summer signings who have been dropped straight into the action all look good. We seem to have more options now and decent cover everywhere. It'll be the first time in years that we won't actually be weaker if players like Crouch Gerrard Hyypia or Alonso don't start. It'll just be a different approach by Raffa. When was the last time we had so many options?
