Tonsil removal

I have been getting grief with my tonsils, basically I have noticed they seem overly swollen and the only way I can see the dangly bit is by breathing in when I have my mouth WIDE open, I am sure this aint right.. I get sore throats too.

Just wondering if I could go to the doctors and request to have my tonsils taken out? I am sure its affecting me somehow... at what point will the doctor let me know that I can have them removed? when I say I would like them out or whether he says?

I understand that its not wise to have them taken out as you get older (am 28) but I would like it doing..

anyone had it done at an older age? if so how bad is it?

I had this a couple of years back. He gave me some antibiotics and it went away.

I have got an infection on my right tonsil.

I know the dangly bit is not my tonsils, the tonsils are the fleshy bits either side aint they? well they are hanging right down..

I had my tonsils taken out a few years back...The ENT surgeon told me that its "probably one of the worst things he could do to a person" because of the massive amount of nerve endings in your tonsil...I was out of work for 16 days...I could not eat a thing..I survived on warm Gatorade...I did not take a dump for over 2 weeks....I didn't sleep and I tripped on liquid narcotics frequently,other than that,its a piece of cake

I had mine taken out when I was about 20.

 

The anaesthetic they give you to knock you out is the dogs.

 

I felt a bit rubbish when I woke up, and it hurt for a couple of days, but within a week I was right as rain. Think I was in hospital for 2/3 nights If I remember rightly.
