Intelligent design in schools

If ID is the correct ?science? and it was designed intelligently then why isn?t it already designed and taught in schools. Does the current popularity and polarization of this issue as well as a place on a national agenda not indicate that ID is in fact Evolving into a school subject. Doesn?t that contradict itself?
