About the same volume, less work, more personal. I had everything sorted and filtered into categories but gmail's new filter system wrecked everything for me a while back and I haven't been arsed enough to fix it yet.

I hate gmail but can't decide on any alternative that I do like, I've also not looked at what it offers really for about 8 years so the reasons I think it's s*** may have been addressed

I get about 200 emails I reckon, and a sizeable proportion are not from actual people, rather online systems of some description prompting me to get my a*** in gear for some piece of less than brilliant task that must be carried out, before it f***s off and eats itself.

But I do run an online business (part time) so that generates a lot. Also I get a lot through local football, many I don't need to do anything with. I am just on lots of lists.

Loads, and all of them are urgent according to their sender. This is what really annoys about emails, the sender thinks that just because they have sent an email that it is immediately dealt with as a priority, and you stop everything else to deal with their problem exclusively. People sending work emails outside office hours like 9pm or some other such stupid time can go and f*** off too. Do they really think anything is going to be done with it until the following day? Stupid t***s.

Years ago we would send a letter, and eventually get a reply

 

Then came the FAX and people expected a response quicker

 

Now we send emails and expect an instant response whatever time or day

The most annoying thing about work emails is people who don't reply to your emails for days then expect an instant reply to theirs

Timely email reply is a mark of respect. Happily the converse also applies.
