Got a Golf Mk4 Gt tdi... Nothing flash, but I like it... Anyway recently it's run like s*** after a certain distance, as if the turbo suddenly stops working and I get a car that feels like a 1.1 until I turn the ignition on and off and it works again....

Anyway I take it into a garage over the Wirral... I explain the issue... I said I thought the turbo was the issue... Receptionist said that was unlikely... Called a mechanic over... He too said it wasn't the turbo else it would stop working altogether...

So I leave it with them... They ring me after a test drive and state it's the MAF sensor causing the issue... I am relieved as it's not requiring a new turbo... Book it in to get fixed today...

The mechanic changes the part... Takes on test drive and fills out report saying 'obvious performance improvement'. I go along and pay £125 for labour and part... Take it away and get onto the motorway.... Yup.. Straightaway down to max speed of 80mph and runs like a s*** dog...

Ring garage... Mechanic says 'yeah it might be a solenoid issue with the turbo as I think that might be causing it'....... Cue expletives from me..... Asked him why he dismissed turbo the other day and he said 'hoped it wouldn't be that'...

Lazy c***.
