She's only sold 3,000 albums apparantly

She'll probably sell double that this week

Oh and she's touring small venues, including the Masque in liverpool. in October if anyone is interested

double? try ten fold at least

Been listening to her album this morning. It's pretty poor. Absolutely nothing special or original.

I don't know. The Booker often makes bad decisions as well, I suppose. It just takes longer for people to get onto that.

But pop music isn't literature - it isn't "high art" and shouldn't be treated as such. Pop music is none of these people's business.

Yeah, fair comment.

If it is going to exist it's going to get the shortlist and the decision from that shortlist wrong on a pretty regular basis. In fact the surprise should be when it gets it right.

It's not done badly to be fair.

I've got loads of the 02, 01, 97, 95 and 94 shortlists

The winner is an afterthought, its a small cash prize, but crucially all of the nominees have a large increase in album sales, as they all go on sale in supermarkets and get good placement digitally, it's really as simple as that......that is the case those who have actually released their albums already, the ones that haven't yet, and are nominated anyway, are perhaps the best demonstration of what a nepotistic charade this crappy award actually is.

I'm glad an "unknown" won it.
