Iceland or Somewhere Else?

Thinking of doing something different on NYE this year - looking into Iceland for a couple of nights. Can get a room at the 101 which is a nice boutique-style hotel but wondered if anyone has any experience of NYE there (long-shot I know).

 

My concern is that we arrive on the 29th or 30th and everything is closed and there's nothing to do...

 

If anyone can think of a better place, be good to know your thoughts - well, some of you.
