The Paddy Power Gold Cup at 2.35 is the first big handicap of the season and it's very competitive this year.

Several horses are in with a chance but two are interesting to me.

Barbers Shop - good course form, won't mind the ground, improving horse, Henderson is living in a hotel at the moment because his yard is on fire and they don't get much better as a jockey than Geraghty.

Turko is a crazy 33-1 for a top horse from a yard in form. He runs well when being sent out shortly after a run and did well a couple of weeks ago at Wetherby. Trip and ground are ideal.

Fleet Street, Ouzbeck have chances but the ground has gone slightly against them. Stan might get a place

Beat The Boys looks ideal for the 2.00. Slightly out of the handicap but is only young and is rated on last years races - he's strenghtened up through the summer and runs very well when fresh ( I reckon he'll win a National within the next couple of years and we might even see him in the Welsh National at Christmas )

Knockavilla looks nailed on for the 3.25 at Wetherby.

If the afternoon's gone well i'll be going for Sunnyhillboy in the last.

There's a monster pool of nearly £2m in the Scoop 6 and it'll take some winning today.
