Have they always been a collection of incompetent buffoons or is this a new development?

A while back I posted out 5 copies of my novel to assorted friend. Each one was numbered and signed because I wanted them to have one.

Out of 5 posted Royal Mail managed to lose 1 in the post. Using this, admittedly small, survey that's a failure rate of 20%.

Having spoken to them a few times and gotten the same level of interest and interaction as if I'd simply announced to the desk worker that my favourite colour is yellow and I like jam, I've been given a "Lost, Damaged or Delayed Mail Form" which, when filled out, I was can either hand over in any Post Office branch or post it to them.

Like I'm going to stick this f***ing form in the post! When they lose that to, do I have to fill in a "You've Lost my Lost, Damaged or Delayed Mail Form Form"?

As it's intellectual property and not publish I'm not going to get an renumeration or compensation, which wouldn't beother me, if they can just find the f***ing parcel!
