we found ourselves such a friggin awesome partnership last season with Gerrard up just behind Torres........

Seriously the last 4 months of the previous season, we really clicked into gear...Rafa found a solid side and our form i believe our last 4 months was better than anyone...

Now the new season and gerrard is back at center mid with a new partner for torres in robbie keane....now heres my problem, torres has always been a far better striker when left alone up front...he works best with having a deep 2nd striker, someone who can almost bring the ball out of midfield....robbie keane isnt really that player, hes a great player more in the beardsley mould......but doesnt have an eye for a through ball like either..well king kenny or gerrard.

I just feel we are going to see another season of gerrard being moved about..center mid, right mid and finally at times maybe we will see him where he was best last season..behind Torres.

Its been said a million times, but Gerrard just isnt a great central midfielder...hes a great right midfielder and a great link man....but he just doesnt have the disiple to play as a center midfield, it puts far too much pressure on the other center mid for it to work succesfully.

No doubt in my mind that with a full fully fit squad..

---------------reina-----------------

carra-----agger-skrtel------doessena

--------------------------------------

kuyt-----masch-alonso-----babel--

----------------gerrard---------------

----------------torres-----------------

is still potentially our best 11......im still not 100% about the full back positions..

but that front 6 worked superbly last season and id love to see it given a go again...

and i dont think anyone would disagree that..

gerrard---masch-alonso--babel--------

-----------torres----keane--------------

HAS even more potential.........

Bottom line for me is..................we wont challenge for the title with Steven Gerrard as a central midfielder, lets not restrict him......he deserves and is good enough for more freedom.

Hopefully he'll replace Kuyt in that line up once Mash returns.

An attacking line up comprising Babel, Keane, Torres and Gerrard is potentially very exciting and not nearly as static.

exactly what the other two posts said. are main midfielders are at the olympics. when we have everyone back our front four will look like this

keane ------------stevie g-------------babel

--------------------torres------------------

with all four interchanging.....
