Prague, Czechia, further afield

I go back to Prague on Wednesday and since this time I'm going by car, I have the chance to check out places other than Prague itself.

 

Does anyone know places worth visiting within a drive of Prague? Kutna Hora (sic) or Hradec Kralove, perhaps? Might drive as far as Brno or even Bratislava if it's worth the trip.

 

Oh yeah, and does anyone know why we call Czechia 'Czech Republic' when they don't call themselves that? Every language other than English seems to have a sensible word for the country - Tschechien, Cechia, Tchéquie, etc.

 

As it says here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Names_of_the_Czech_Republic people (in Prague at least) seem to call the country 'Czech' when speaking English.
