Net spend figures from 2006

Having a bit of banter at work which at present is quite light hearted but, I started to speak about net spend of the top 4 and including Spurs. Has anyone got the figures ... perhaps even further back as that gives us a good idea of what is going on.

 

I get the general impression over the last few years spurs are spending enough to expect to challenge for the top4 my mate always keeps complaining that they cannot compete in the transfer market due to no CL making it an elite group etc.

I think Spurs have an issue keeping their better players, so will always get cut off and have to start again. They spend out quite a bit, but the dont pay very well as compared to most, so are vulnerable to losing any good players they bring in or develop a la Carrick which set them back and soon to be Berbatov, which will also set them back. The guys who own them dont mind as they make a profit on many players and bring a lot back in in sakes, but they struggle to build anything in the way Everton or Villa manage to.

 

For the figures you'll have to do a lot of your own work. Soccerbase will list ins and out, but you'll have to double check their figures and fill in blanks for undisclosed with digging. I dont know any site that lists Spurs fees accurately like Liverweb does for us.
