Over the next few weeks there are some big handicaps to get involved with, plus the countdown to Cheltenham and the Grand National ( weights released this week ) plus the Lincoln on the flat.

Saturday : Totesport Trophy Hurdle

The 5 day decs are out tomorrow and i think it's worth putting a couple of quid on both Ring The Boss and County Zen. If it stays soft at Newbury, RTB has a major, major chance. I just hope the trainer doesn't pull him out tomorrow.

The Grand National is a couple of months away but i like Parons Legacy at the moment. He's currently available at 48's on Betfair but given that he could run well at Cheltenham, he should be half that in a months time. The race is going to be made more interesting this year by two entries of highly rated horses - Beef Or Salmon and Celestial Gold. If they stay in, they could make it impossible for low rated horses to get in.

I think the weights are released on Tuesday.

In the Lincoln, Perfect Star is worth backing for a few quid at the 18's currently available. The only negative against her is that i can't remember the last time this race wasn't won by a gelding. I may be wrong but March is a little early for the distaffs
