relocation help needed

i am looking to move closer to london and travel to work in southampton daily and i have considered reading and slough (although i suppose the traffic will be a nightmare getting to the M3, and plus slough is the worst town in britain and Murph lives in it)

 

any other places on the hampshire/ surrey borders that anyone can recommend, I basically want somewhere safe for my family, where my wife wouldn't get strange looks for going shopping with a head scarve like she is getting in fareham/ gosport at the moment, not too far from london or southampton (no more than an hour drive to work), and also somewhere where you can get a decent house for no more than £190k
