Mobile Phone freezing up

I've got this (almost) new Nokia 6230i phone. I like it but it seems to completely freeze up increasingly often. Anyone know why this happens? Is it caused by hardware? software? something else?

 

Every now and then it pops up the question 'Switch on Push to Talk? Yes/No' without warning and this seems to be a particularly common source of the phone locking up.
