Does this ever happen at Anfield?

This is from the BBC, yesterday's match report:

"Groundstaff turned on the sprinklers during the interval but, bizarrely, only to water the half of the pitch Villa were defending."

I've heard it happen at Chelsea's ground more than once, but does it ever happen at ours. And what are the reasons? To slow the opponent down or something even more sinister?

Hoddle was always one for getting the pitch watered at half time. You have to have the permission of the the opposition manager to do it. Wonder if it was Martin O'Neill that requested it rather than Rafa, so any overhit balls would run on and they could defend deeper?
