A man is hit by a car and a van

A man has been hit by two vehicles in two different places within 30 minutes.

 

The victim, 34, was struck by a white BMW near Southend General Hospital, Essex, in the early hours of Tuesday.

 

He was helped to his feet by a relative and they drove off in a Nissan Micra. But when the victim left the car on the Kent Elms Corner, he was hit by a van.

 

The Rayleigh man was taken to Southend General Hospital with serious head, neck and arm injuries. His condition is described as serious but stable.

 

The driver of the BMW, a 40-year-old man from Canvey Island, has been arrested for driving while under the influence of drink or drugs.

 

He has been bailed until late April.
