I finally got around to watching this again. Some people whose view I respect said it's really good so I've given it another chance (and bought it ) after not rating it when it was first out.

 

I'm trying really hard to like it, but I'm inexorably drawn back to my original conclusion "too clever by half".

 

Is the wooden delivery of 'wise crack' lines intentional? Am I missing the point?

 

It does go on my list of films containing the song 'Danny Boy' however.
