Was in my (then) natural home, the Anny Road for a 3rd (?) round tie V Altrincham and incredibly Everton's cup match at home V Arsenal was played at the same time. I'd taken a mate, a German lad, to his first Anfield game and he was asking me why our fans wanted to give Arsenal "a lirrel birra knuckle." Yes, our lads were sneaking out early to get over the park and provide the gooners with a reception commitee when they left the pit. Anyone else remember this incident that seems surreal now but I assure you it happened.

I was one of the few hundred that left and stood in the Paddock at Goodison Park. Arsenal thought we would be helping them out but that soon changed when we started waving to our blue cousins stood in the Lower Bullens. Outside was interesting.

Yeah, Kev. HOW interesting? I had to stay in with the German lad as I was unsure about introducing him to the prevailing English fan-culture of the time. In the car going back though, he told me stuff about the rivalry between Eintracht Frankfurt and several other Ruhr teams of the day. Hair-raising it was if he was telling the truth.

Police were not expecting it and couldn't cope, blood, vists, kicks, butts. All the soccerbuses carrying the Gooners that escaped got bricked.
