Symbolism and headstones

Walking thro a cemetary yesterday I came upon headstones over 100 years old. Many of them had interesting designs - none of which you see in today's modern headstone collection.

The interesting ones included:

- Ones that looked like columns (masonic??)

- A chalice partially shrouded in a cloak

- and the last one was a finger pointing to the sky

 

Are there any hidden meanings or symbolism attached to these?
