So 4-3-3

Midfeild 3 from Gerrard, Zenden, Alonso (injury permitting), JAR & Garcia

Front three from Kuyt, Crouch, Bellamy and Garcia

or 4-4-2 with two from JAR, Garcia and Bellamy playing wide?

Got to be a 4-3-3 for me, with Bellamy tucking into the right side when we don't have the ball. Basically the team that finished the game, depending on Xabi's fitness.

Bummer about Gonzalez, he was looking very good.

I think Rafa will stick with 4-4-2

Garcia, Gerrard & Zenden will start in midfield with either Riise or Bellamy making up the 4th spot. If Riise, then Warnock may start at LB.

i'd love to see Bellamy start on the left. But I dunno if that'll happen, being as it didn't tonight when the chance was there!

Otherwise, if Aurelio isnt near fit, then I guess Warnock and Riise may well play on the left. And at home that's not such a bad thing.

What a bashtard them injuries tonight, took the gloss off it really. I hope Xabi isn't too bad. Didn't look so positive for Mark and Pennant though. Such a shame, cos Gonzalez was having a good game too, and Pennant, for all the annoyances, really does need a run of a few games to get going. And two more home games would have been a good time for it. Now it looks like that won't happen for a while.

Xabi is on crutches for a bad ankle injury. Rafa reckons he's out for a while

That's not what he says here:

Rafael Benitez admitted his joy at seeing Liverpool beat PSV Eindhoven and top Group C was tempered by the injury problems that saw Xabi Alonso, Mark Gonzalez and Jermaine Pennant all forced to leave the field.

Out of the three players Gonzalez is the most serious with a torn hamstring.

"We are really pleased with the victory and it is good for the supporters and the club but unfortunately we have some injuries with Mark Gonzalez the more serious," commented Benitez.

"Gonzalez will be out for at least two weeks with his hamstring which is a blow for us. Xabi has a dead leg and Pennant has spasms in his hamstring so we will have to see how he is.

"When you lose two players in the first half it makes it more difficult and we had Bolo Zenden and Luis Garcia who wasn't 100 per cent fit.

"Gerrard played well and it was good for us to see him running forward and scoring goals."

Excellent news about Gonzalez. There was talk of 6-8 weeks at first.

Looked like Alonso took a blow to his thigh and might have a dead leg.

His foot was also pushed back in the tackle so possible ankle injury
