I have about 7 conifers in my back garden that are, quite frankly, too big. They're about 20ft tall, and blocking out the light, and I'd like 'em chopped to about 10 - 12 ft.

I called up some bloke who came round and had a look (I wasn't there at the time) and he called me up and said he'd do the lot for £160 and was insistent that I should say yes and he would do it right there and then. Fearing (a) being fleeced, (b) being burgled, and © not getting some information as to whether this was reasonable or not, I stood my ground and said I'd think about it.

However, I haven't got a clue. Before I call someone else, is there anyone out there in YNWA land who would know if that sounds ludicrous or not for lopping 8ft of the top of seven conifers?

The bloke sounded like a right chancer on the phone, by the way.
