I bought a 2003 ford focus about 7 months ago from a dealer and it's been fine since. However since the weather changed last week and got really cold I have been having problems starting.

Of a morning when going to work (and sometimes after work) the car won't start. Reading the user manual it suggests that holding down the clutch and pressing the accelerator whilst turning the ignition will start the car when cold. This method has been working for me, however I am a bit worried that there may be summat wrong with my car!

My brother has a slightly newer focus and he leaves for work at the same time but does not have similar problems. My car is overdue its first major service, but I am a bit skint to take it until I get paid at the end of the month. In the meantime, does anyone have any ideas if there is a problem with my car, or if it just is a bit more susceptible to cold than other cars and there's nothing to worry about?
