That he had not been scammed

This is the situation.

He's stopped at a petrol station by a group of italian gentlemen who say they are in the fashion industry and are visiting England for a series of trade shows.

They say that their cards are accepted at the petrol station and ask my mate to pay for their fuel and if he is willing to 50 quid on top to cover the remainder of their fuel costs for the trip then they'll give him 3 genuine armani leather jackets together with certificates of authenticity.

So he does and now says he's going to sell them on ebay. I persuaded him to search for it on the net, and this is what he came up with....

"I had a good look on the internet last night - and have identified 5 reasons why its probable that my jacket is not saleable as an original Giorgio Armani.

In isolation none of these point, I think, is sufficient to refute the claim entirely, but taken together they add up to a pretty strong case!

1. There is a website devoted to the type of sales strategy my dad experienced, warning that these are fake goods.

2. There is no mention of Giorgio Armani on the jacket itself.

3. There is an article by a Giorgio Armani designer observing that the company do not do a "Reportage" brand.

4. "Reportage" in latin means 'replica'.

5. The eagle's head on the logo on the jacket is facing the wrong way (I think this one is quite damning actually).

There was another one as well, but I can't remember it.

Do you think, taking into consideration all of the above points that, I can still sell the jacket on the missus' ebay account as the genuine item?!?"
