Not enough soldiers/equipment in Afghanistan etc

Did anyone see newsnight last night, they had an extended feature on the british troops in afghanistan and the huge strain they where under due to lack of manpower and equipment, the soldiers were all saying it is far worse and more volatile than Iraq.

 

Why have we still got more soldiers in Northern Ireland (8,500) than in Iraq ?

 

And why have we got an incredible 22,500 soldiers still stationed in germany

 

whats the point of them being in northern ireland or germany, especially when they are so dangerously streched in afghanistan ?
